Plus how on earth are you going to come up with a storyline for a sequel? Jaffe Joffer is presumably still king since JEJ is still alive. Akeem is going to allow his son to choose his own bride, since he didn't want an arranged marriage for himself. Communications have developed enough to make the world far smaller, and Zamundans know a lot more about New York than they did in the 1980s. The new prince is going to have security requirements that didn't exist back then.
I can't think of any way it's going to work without major stretches. It's almost as bad an idea as the sequel to A Christmas Story.

This is going to be like Dumb and Dummer 2. So many people think they want it until they have it. Eddie Murphy is making this film as a cash grab because of how far his career is tanked, so motivation is for cash not making a good product. When a sequel is made this long after the original, it is an awful sign.
