How old is your son?

He's 16. I got him hooked on the films when he was younger and he's followed the series from Day 1. He loved it up until Season 5 and then his interest started to wane to do "terrible writing"

That Silent Lucidity montage was off the chain badass. Didn't think anything could top Peter Cetera KK2, but holy crap that was well done.

how did the announcer handoff advance the plot in any way?

Gotcha!

I still loved it. I can see where it loses some.

It was just a simple gesture to allow someone from the Valley to handle the MC responsibilities of the biggest karate tournament in the world.

Sucks Robby lost but he put up a much better fight than I thought he would.

Lewis Tan is growing on me as an actor. He wasn’t that good in Mortal Kombat but I thought he did a good job considering he was only in 10 episodes.

I thought that most had at least trained at CK at some point in the series….maybe need to rewatch that fight.

Upon reflection, I’m wondering if these were the stunt doubles that they were giving a little screen time? They’re standing behind Daniel.

I hear that, but him getting injured and Miguel stepping in began to make so much sense to me in the episode before. I think they both could have completed the task, but I felt Miguel just needed a spark to complete the journey. Seeing Robbie go down that way was like the way Rocky saw Apollo go down. The Eye of the Tiger, baw!

Yeah the needed Robby getting hurt to give them the motivation needed for Johnny to reclaim Cobra Kai. Seeing Miguel and Johnny in the black and yellow cobra Kai gi again was so hype

It was always the Johnny Lawrence redemption arc…..as it should have been. The entire series was just fricking fun and very well done. Cobra Kai never dies.

Several of them were at least. I don’t remember a lot of their names or if they even told us but a lot of them were all Cobra Kai or Miyagi Do students at some point in the series.

Obviously the show tried to extend the run since it was so popular, which I was fine with. Especially since the first (maybe even second?) was so under the radar on YT Red so getting an extra season or two to capitalize on the wave of nostalgia it created made sense imo.

But it’s clear the creators had a great arc planned out from the beginning. They just took a roundabout way to get there with the extra seasons.

They did a phenomenal job sticking the landing with every character imo. Figuring out how to resolve who “wins” between Miguel/Robby and Sam/Tori was tricky but I loved the way they did it.

Won’t spoil but the talk between Daniel and Sam and Miyagi’s truest lesson was brilliant.

The scene with Johnny and Robby after his fight made it dusty as hell.

But the final talk with Johnny and Kreese was honestly an award worthy performance by Zabka imo. What an amazing arc 40 years in the making for him to absolutely nail that scene. Lot of truth and pain revealed in that moment and ultimately strength. Made the whole thing worth it. Zabka and Kove both delivered big there.

I honestly could have done without the final fight because I just didn’t care about the “villain”. I thought they were going to go full circle and have him step in with the other guy attacking his student in the parking lot, but I understand why Johnny deserved that ending.

And Daniel giving Johnny the Rocky speech was another legit brilliant piece of writing and a scene worthy of the greatest moments in this saga. Great moment for both of those guys. An all time great duo.

And holy shite Miguel going Rocky IV in the black and yellow was the badass culmination that this series was building toward and it did not disappoint. Those flashbacks to all the big moments from his arc were perfect. Really a great character.

And I know someone already mentioned it but the Silent Lucidity montage moment is what good TV is all about.

Only disappointment in these last five episodes was Hawk being sidelined because he became a legit good fighter and character. But he did have his big fight moment in Barcelona, so wrapping things up with Dimitri was good enough.

Will miss this show, and really thankful these guys were able to make it happen so successfully.

Wanted Kreese to stay around. Wasn’t he an escaped felon this whole season and nobody cares?
