Haven’t seen any trannies yet. Great so far.

I’m an episode in so far snd really laughed when a guy yelled that Daniel was the bully at the PTA meeting. First episode, otherwise, was pretty dull.

Some longer episodes this season

Was surprised, but there’s literally no woke bs in the whole season.
The season is great and adds some great nostalgia and unknown history, while advancing good current storylines w the adults and the kids. The show is just so well done

It’s still the best thing out there, but I do think it’s behind the first two in terms of story.
This season had a few really good episodes, but 40-50 percent of it felt repetitive and a bit of filler where they were batting like 80-90 percent in S1 and 2.
It almost felt like season 2 and 3 could have been combined into like a 15-16 ep season to make it tighter because this finale is where we all knew we needed to get to once Kreese showed up.
And as great as the S2 finale was, it kind of stalled the beginning of this season out with Miguel’s rehab story. Having a serious injury like that in a huge school brawl was always going to break this out of the simple rivalry story that made it so great and thrust it into the real world, where there are real consequences.
And that made some of this feel forced and not as organic to the heart of the story imo.
It’s always been Daniel and Johnny, and their relationship didn’t change at all this season until the finale, which was outstanding.
The buddy cop stuff early on was fun, but ultimately amounted to nothing. Just like the rehab stuff for Miguel and juvi for Robby. Even Hawk just kept circling the same Demitri angle until the end, which again was awesome. But it just didn’t need to be rehashed again and again.
Also, while the Kreese backstory was really well done, I’m not sure it’s really relevant to this story. Kreese is who he is. He’s done evolving, and it doesn’t really matter why he is the way he is like it does for Johnny because there is still hope for Johnny. It’s his story.
Kreese is almost more worthy of a spin-off rather than something that needed to be squeezed in here. It just seemed like a lot of time taken away from the main story.
But the Okinawa storyline and those characters were great (and they worked it into the story very well too). And the Ali episode was outstanding. So well done and worth the payoff. Elizabeth Shue is a damn fine wine

Also, I actually think they salvaged Tory’s character a bit and made her more interesting. I like that her and Robby are now allies and Sam and Miguel have reunited. That seems more the way it’s supposed to be. The meeting between Daniel and Miguel was great and long overdue

Reintroducing Kyler was also a great move and sets up for a great S4 now that it’s all coming to a head.
Enter Terry Silver

Just wanted to hear them say “Welcome to Miyagi-Kai Karate”. It’s coming

Same, laughed out loud. So good.
I hope Demitri gets his arse kicked this season.

I’m sure Netflix is thinking long term
Since they took it over
Probably want at least 6 seasons of this

Yeah that was my biggest worry when they bought it.
It takes it from whatever the original outline of the story was to probably an extra two seasons. I love this world and want to see more of it, but I also prefer the vision they had stay in place because it was damn near perfect the first two seasons. This will change it at least somewhat.
But still really well done and can’t wait for S4.
Hopefully it will be here in spring/summer which is when this was originally scheduled so we don’t have to wait as long.

The way they brought her back was so well done and they used her character perfectly to both look backwards and also advance the current storyline w Johnny and Daniel.

He's not super likable. If I'm right about his unstated diagnosis, I understand that means he's lacking in social awareness/the ability to distinguish social cues. That being said, him being a smug, cocky little shite at the beginning of this season is a bit much.

The scene at the end were Hawk flips to Miyagi / Eagle was pretty sweet.

Well yeah I know that’s the reason they did it but I’m just saying it wasn’t necessary. We already know Kreese saved Silver’s life in the war.
But that still doesn’t make all those details relevant to the Daniel/Johnny story.
We don’t need 30 minutes in a five hour season dedicated to a war story from 50 years ago that doesn’t offer anything new to the two main characters.
Again, the scenes were well done but it really was just filler when it comes to what is happening now. Trying to make Kreese and Silver more sympathetic doesn’t change what maniacs they are today or how they are impacting the lives of the students. That’s a story for a different show imo.
We didn’t need more than a few quick flashbacks to show what we needed to see, like they do with every other callback.
The opening flashback of new material showing why Kreese joined the military was great, and maybe the very end showing how he saved the unit and his shithead commander (we get it no bad students only bad teachers) would have been fine. But really it ended up being like a full episode worth of Anthony Michael Hall and their mission and unit and capture and escape, etc etc.
I just don’t think it added much to what we’re watching play out today, even though the scenes were well done. Just felt like a story for a different series imo.
