BS...
Miracle on 34th Street
It's a Wonderful Life
Rudolph
Hell even Charlie Browns are all far more beloved than Ralphie by a long long long gap, last two are more specials than movies though...

IMO this is Christmas Vacation, and it's not even remotely close.
A Christmas Story is one of the most overrated movies in history IMO. It's okay, sure, but I'm so tired of people thinking it's the greatest thing ever.
And I know I may be in the minority on that, but that's how I've always felt about that movie...whereas Christmas Vacation is legitimately awesome and hilarious.

A Christmas Story will always be my favorite; loved it as a kid, still love it now as an adult.
And who can forget this scene?
Bunny suit
Bar of soap

After reading a lot of this thread, I don't think you are even close to a minority there. Seems like a lot of people dislike this movie. I don't think the 24 hours of it helps their cause either. The over playing gets the people who sorta like it overdosed with it to where they don't want to see it either.

I don't get the love for The Santa Claus. One of the worst Xmas movies.
2010's should be Santa's Slay with Bill Goldberg.

Christmas Vacation. I never liked A Christmas Story.

Christmas Story so still to this day I have never seen the whole thing.
I bet you have but maybe not in 1 sitting. It runs 24 hours Christmas Eve/Day. I don't think I've ever sat through a single viewing but I can quote the movie.

Everything else
Vacation and Scrooged are way up there but can't agree with this at all. Christmas Story wasn't that big of a movie when it came out (I was 8 at the time) and actually became more popular a few years later on TV.
I know this thread is more about the 80s and more recent decade movies but a few classics that deserve to be put way up there:
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
The Year Without Santa Claus

Has Bad Santa been mentioned yet? That's my pick

A Christmas Story. We went eat chineese food several christmas eves because of this movie.
Christmas Vacation is a close second. The shitter's full still gets me
ETA: Vacation has more laughs but A Christmas Story is a classic IMO.

only people of the younger germination who like Kanye West and How I met your mother will disagree
I think this is funny bc I am 26 and hate both of these things. I also think a christmas story is absolute garbage when compared to a masterpiece like christmas vacation.
my top 3 christmas movies:
Christmas Vacation
It's a Wonderful Life
Home Alone
I watch these every year but christmas vacation is all by itself at the top for me. I can quote nearly every line and I still laugh hysterically from beginning to end every time.
