I think the $600 million in 8 days covers the cost. What reality are you fighting for?

The movie was fine. Just left the theater. It has a marvel origin story that doesn't feel like previous marvel origin stories. It brought back a lame arse villain. Brie Larson and Ben Mendelsohn are good in their respective roles. It's an above average single character marvel movie.

Concede to our collective reality: Captain Marvel and Brie Larson are part of your precious Avengers franchise.

This is a little too obvious, you were trolling better early on.

Yeah, he’s clearly not committed to the character anymore.
It’s rather insulting at this point. He should have moved on to how Captain Marvel is going to drag down Endgame.

Is completely normal because the first Friday has the benefit of counting the “midnight” showings from Thursday.

Yeah, a 55% drop is quite good. I just got out, took my boy and several of his buddies to watch it. The movie is not very good, IMO. We were very underwhelmed.

My wife and my youngest daughter and I saw it opening weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

My oldest daughter wanted to see it with us so we all went today and I thought it was even better in the second watch.

Eta: Theater was completely sold out today. Just like last weekend.

I probably won’t watch it again, at least not for awhile. It’s the first marvel movie that didn’t have at least one big moment scene that just sticks with you.

Examples: Guardians with the Power stone, Cap telling Bucky “I’m with you til the end of the line”, iron man 3 when all of the suits fly in, avengers when hulk transforms right into punching the chitauri worm thing, or even Thor 2 with Loki walking down the hallway changing into other characters. The only other MCU movie I felt that way about was Doctor Strange.

Mendelsohn and SLJ are the only reason why I don’t regret seeing it early. Seriously the more I think about it, it’s clear Wonder Woman is the better movie.

Hope Black Widow does well though. Scarlett is much more attractive and has much more charisma than Brie so they are already starting on a strong foot than Captain Marvel.

2nd weekend estimated $69.3 million, a dip of 54.8%.

An objectively strong hold onfits audience even as the new releases performed better than expectations.

Captain Marvel held more of its first weekend audience than the majority of Marvel releases, and it opened higher than most of the non-group hero Marvel releases.

People like this movie. It's okay. You're life will handle this defeat. This thread can now end.

It's first week outperformed every Marvel character origin story's first week not named Black Panther. I would say that's a bit more than "nothing to sneeze at".

Yes and that’s great but it also has the benefit of being the 21st movie in this universe where people are already totally on board and is also the lead in to endgame. Iron man, Thor, hulk, and captain America all had to be interesting enough on their own because they didn’t have this giant existing arc to build off of. Captain marvel sees farther because she stands on the shoulders of giants.
