Marvel is just toying with everyone at this point. The comic book universe is theirs and everyone else is just looking on. This movie did one thing and that is confirm that DC comics is a joke.

How dumb does everyone who posted this meme feel now?

Well Bucky is missing an arm, Cap, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and Buckey are all fugitives. By the time Thanos arrives the team will probably still be broken up which doesn't bode well at all for the world

Giant-Man kinda got spoiled for me by seeing this
My affinity for Lego's and Marvel got me in trouble.

This movie wasn't on my radar but on Saturday after a lunch date I decided to see what movies were on to see if there was one starting soon. I saw this, and it was cheap (half of hat I paid for batman vs superman), so I figured it was just an ok movie. I was very entertained.
Still not sure why it was cheap, maybe some Mother's Day weekend promo thing.

I loved it. Awesome fighting. Spiderman was cool, but didnt like aunt may . Black panther was cool. Iron man shouldve killed winter soilder with his shoulder missiles. Bucky still should be in jail. He still killed people.
One thing though: do Avengers (and stark give to charity?) More social good would be done if world hunger, poverty, scholarships, and free healthcare were addressed.
Also , isnt ghost rider owned by marvel? Him vs avengers were awesome
whose alter are you? Ghost Rider sucks.
Tony was giving scholarships.
The Avengers aren't SJWs. They are Avengers.

Yes he is, by a very large margin.

Spiderman 2 is top 10 superhero movie.
I could agree with that.

Tobey McGuire was spiderman to me
Fify.
I like Tobey as Spiderman, but this kid is who Spiderman should really be.
Spiderman is a kid, not a 30 year old acting like a kid.

Well just got out of it. It really is as if Marvel got the script from Batman v Superman directly delivered to them, they said to themselves "are they serious with this garbage", and proceeded to make a direct retort to it.
Civil War was fricking great and is the best Avengers movie to date. It is superheroes fighting done right. They built it up beautifully, instead of Clark being hypocritically pissed that Batman takes the law into his own hands. I understood what was going on and what was at stake.
Wasn't quite as good as the Winter Soldier, but it was still awesome. Loved the airport fight, and the final duel between Iron Man, Captain America, and the Winter Soldier.
3.5 out of 4 stars.

Captain America died in the civil war in the comics.
I was disappointed this didn't happen in the film even though I knew it wouldn't.
I just hate how damn righteous Cap is. I don't love Iron Man or anything, but Rogers is so freaking annoying to me.

For the people talking about the Vision shooting War Machine seen.. Am I the only one who interpreted it as the stone having an adverse effect on him?? He talked to Wanda earlier in the movie about unsure of it's origin and whether or not he'll fully be able to control it..
And then after he talks about being distracted I felt like the camera focused on the stone.

Civil war legitimately made me even more angrier at BvS, Snyder and Warner Brothers for allowing that shite show to happen and then allow Snyder to go ahead and start filming Justice league right after.
Civil War made 680 million dollars already in the first weekend. BvS won't even touch 900. If not for Justice league being started so soon, Snyder would've been fired and the whole DC cinematic universe put on hold.
There's no reason why BvS shouldn't be making close to 2 billion dollars. Hopefully civil war will get close to or even over 2 billion to send DC a strong message.

Without Cap, the avengers fall apart as a tight knit, fluid and cohesive unit. Sure they could put something together without him but it wouldn't be as trusting and free as without Cap being the moral and spiritual backbone of the Avengers.
Cap is what inspires them to fight hard not just for humanity but for each and every one of their own comrades and staying on the straight and narrow path and never stooping to the level of their enemies.
I've always said that Captain America is basically the Superman of Marvel without the powers. They share a lot character traits.

They should fire him immediately. Take the hundred million dollar hit and start from scratch with competent filmmakers.
Iron Man vs Captain America is going to roughly double the total box office gross of Batman vs Superman. Was this even remotely feasible 10 years ago? Batman and Superman are indisputably the Top 2. Iron Man and Captain America barely make the Top 10. If these movies were released in 2006, then Snyder would have been blackballed perminantly from the industry.
If they get a good Justice League script, it should gross near 2 billion. If they write a shitty one, it will be lucky to make BvS numbers. Everyone worldwide is suspicious over it. For god's sake, even the Chinese won't eat this garbage, which is saying a lot.

Only way DC will consider it is if Civil War really makes a killing close to or well over 2 billion and BvS still doesn't touch 900 million.
Otherwise, they're just stubborn and/or clueless executives who can't let a bad investment go before it gets really worse.

1) I imagine Wakandan technology will be able to provide a new arm for Bucky.
2) These Avengers are not locked up, as Cap clearly was there to break them out at the end of the movie.

Cap doesn't actually die in the collected, graphic novel version of the story. He dies in one of the spin-offs of the main storyline.
just saying.

Family in town this weekend, so I just caught this tonight....
Spectacular? Awesome? Great? I'm not sure which expletive to use, but the movie was that. And I mean that as a "superhero movie." CW isn't a perfect film, but it sure does set out to do one thing and just nail it. Marvel continuously just gets nearly everything right:
--Keeping the Movies Grounded in the Source Material
--Weaving the world together expertly
--Developing multiple characters over multiple films
--Making Poignant Entertainment
I'll start from the bottom. The third best thing about Civil War is the idea of Guilt that runs through the film. The major players - Cap, Bucky, Tony, Zemo and BP - are all driven by it in different ways. In the same way that AoU was about Family, TFA was about Duty, IM was about Humility and so forth - Marvel actually does give some depth (read: not a lot, but enough to make an impact) that helps anchor the film in a real emotion. It works, and works well. They are going to deconstruct the idea of guilt in a visual essay, but they are going to simply let that emotion drive the plot. That's effective storytelling, whether or not people catch it (and most totally whiffed on Family in AoU, Whedon was almost too clever).
The Second Best thing about Civil War is that every character has moments. Whether it's Wanda and Vision cooking, or Ant-Man and Hawkeye bro-ing out through their powers in Battle, or Bucky and Falcon hating each other, everyone gets something to do, and gets just a little bit of development. Not only that, everyone gets more than a moment of a unique use of their powers and/or ability. I get the feeling that the Russos/Whedon/Feige/Marvel looks at their sets and storyboards and really puts themselves into. Bucky one handing a motorcycle and riding it in one motion? Gold. Vision materializing at just the right moments vs. Hawkeye? Awesome. Falcon just being Falcon. It's both smart and unique, but they've given each character a distinct identity and that's awesome. That's why the movies have so much personality.
And the best thing: Steve and Bucky. This is their story and it works so well. Evans' Cap has been the most interesting superhero of the last 10 years hands down. He's grown, he's become more authentic and more dangerous (compare fight scenes from TFA to CW)....but this movie doesn't work without Stan pulling off the constantly tortured routine. And that's tough to do in a film with a pretty good wise cracking Spider-Man. There's pathos behind WS as there should be. I think Stan was a huge part of why this film works so well. And the idea that the entire plot comes from Steve's dedication to Bucky is huge. Anyone saying that this is an "Avengers" film is really downplaying that the underlying current in the movie is all about Steve's relationship to Bucky and how that plays out to everything around him. Steve doesn't move when he feels he has a duty to truth and honor (they gave Peggy Steve's quote, probably effective, but it was so good in CW-comics). Well done. The film was Steve...not moving. It's a Captain America film through and through.
The other things I liked - Yeah Black Panther was just perfectly cast. So well done on that. Spidey too. I also don't think there was a wasted minute, given the need to give everyone screen time. At the same time, I feel like the movie could have been a tad shorter, haha.
Flaws:
I'm with everyone that Zemo was a problem. However, for a different reason. I don't think he was wasted - He won and he lived how can he be a waste?, His plan wasn't THAT convoluted. However......he wasn't nearly as dangerous as he should be, and he just didn't have the pure panache of the comic book Zemo. These are different properties, but I wanted a more deadly Zemo. But he wasn't the real or "main villain." He was more of a catalyst. Bruhl was solid and I hope he comes back.
And like someone else said above - the scene at the end with BP and Zemo - that was massively important going forward. When you can say that a more minor character like BP experienced growth in a film that isn't directly about him, that's huge.
The Lagos fight scene was awkward compared to the rest of the film, and I think William Hurt could have been more impressive. I just don't know what they are going to do with Thunderbolt Ross at this point.
Cap's position in this was slightly weaker than it was in the comics where it was more about innocent lives. I still side with Cap and get his fear. But Tony has a MUCH better argument here than in the comics.
The big thing is that the film moved more than a few characters forward, it gave importance to a really great character like WS and set the stage for the next set of films....which is the bigger question and really for a different thread.
It's tied with WS as my favorite MCU film.

To me Hawkeye's best moments were slowing Vision down and calling out Tony at The Raft (and spitting while he did)...he dared Tony to call him a criminal. Brilliant moment.

That whole scene was great. Pretty much threw everything Tony was trying to do back in his face.
I also liked Tony's response to Lang. "Who are you?"
