Caps whole backstory was about joining the US Army to fight fascism. Theres no reason in the entire world to try to ignore his American heritage as some sort of ticket grab
The top adjusted film in world history is still Gone With the Wind, despite the fact that part of US history is negative, and doesnt even exist anymore
Pretending he was try to gin up ticket sales, and not some deep-seated emotion on his part, is an assault on your intelligence

He literally said he was a proud American in the same interview.
pretending he wasn't trying to sell tickets is the assault on anyone's intelligence. it was a press tour leading up to the movie release. the entire point is to sell tickets.

I like it. It's more of a psychological thriller compared to the usual Marvel fantasy. I can see why pure Avengers fans may not dig it. And I'm sure black captain America rubs some people wrong, but it's a solid film imo.

lol the third poster to argue numbers because all they've got left is to deny the reported numbers.
even if it made $0 you still wouldn't know if it was worth it for Disney, as I pointed out with Netflix paying $450 million for Knives Out 2 and not even releasing it in theaters.
Disney has already made almost $300 million on something they spent less than $450 million on and will be added to their streaming later.
Wrong. This cost more than $200 million, they had to do 3-4 reshoots of the film due to issues with the story. So more likely $300 million. Add another $100 million in marketing and distribution, which gets you to $400 million. Regarding the $300 million in box office, that is shared with the theaters, so Disney's take is closer to $150 million, meaning they're $250 million in the hole.

This movie is gonna lose its arse off.

Oh look, another expert making up his own numbers to back up his claim.
I'd say they actually spent a trillion on reshoots so they are 999 billion in the hole.

Do everyone a favor and watch Valiant Renegade on YouTube. He's a finance guy that's been pouring over Hollywood financials for years. He also gets intel directly from people in the business that know the numbers. I'd bet he's more informed than anyone on this board (although I do suspect he posts here).

Jokes on you, even if it cost $180 mil, it’s still going to lose money.
Anyway Winter Soldier cost $170 mil.
I didn’t make that up.

He spells it out at the 9 minute mark.

I just got out and thought it was a solid movie. If my wife wants to watch it one day I’ll watch it with her, but I don’t know if I’ll watch it past that. I enjoyed it though, I may have even gone as high as a 7/10 if it wasn’t for the speech to get Red Hulk to come down. That pushed it down to a 6.5 for me, but still a solid enjoyable movie.

Following a significant amount of backlash to his recent remark that "the term 'America'" should not be "one of the representations" associated with his Marvel character, Captain America, Mackie took to Instagram Stories to state, "Let me be clear about this, I'm a proud American."
He said that only on Instagram Stories.
Not in front of a foreign audience

It was a bad moment.
I don't think he meant it that way. I would bet everything I own that Mackie wishes he never said it.
I think he was trying to say that what Cap represents is bigger than just America.
But Mackie isn't a very intelligent interview.

You melt all over movie threads, your only constant is that you take the leftist view.

How is captain america brave new world leftist? Its a super hero movie ya moron
or is not being miserable and sitting around complaining all day about everything the leftist part? cuz i'm pretty sure I see them doing that about trump.
happiness is one of the only things you can have for free that will 100% make your life better, you should try it.
I like Communities take on what movies would be like if they listened to everyone that complains about everything that happens in movies/tv shows
