Your article doesn’t say that. It says one day they may do it but not for black panther 2 or Avengers 5 or the new avengers after that.

Marvels - Never had a chance because of Larson
Quantumania - Should have been good but tried to do too much
Wakanda Forever - Would have made a Billion if Chadwick had not died
Love & Thunder - Taika went off the rails
MoM - Best of all of these
Eternals - Told a story that just wasn't good
Black Widow - Not needed at all
The Falcon & Winter Soldier - Not needed, but Marvel said "we have to make something"
She-Hulk - Not needed, but Marvel said "we have to make something"
Miss Marvel - Better choice than making a movie
Secret Invasion - Didn't even watch
Echo - Didn't even watch
Agatha All Along - Didn't even watch

I'd love to know some of the conversations that took place when these were being planned. I can see one "Let's try this" per year if it is bookended by great movies.

Marvel's big leap in Phase 1/2 was GotG and it was sandwiched between Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron. After its success, they were invincible until the Infinity Saga was complete. Phase 4/5 is has been cluttered with failed attempts to recreate the excitement from a lesser known property like GotG.

Just way too much content. It's time to regroup and slow it down.

Same page. Miss Marvel was watchable, but I couldn't muster the need to watch anything after that.

Boseman dies and they don't have Michael B Jordan since his character died. The only sibling the King of Wakanda has is a girl and no son.

Honestly since Boswman died, I’ve always thought Michael B Jordan’s Killmonger was the best option to take on the mantle of Black Panther. Disney could still do it. It would work commercially to give them an A-Lister in the role but also in story.

They can retcon the story that he died. Technically it happened offscreen. He’s in T’challa’s arms at end and he dies we are led to believe. Wakanda though is so technically advanced they could have the story be that T’challa and shuri saved his life. Tell a story that T’challa saw the good in him, as family, even if he went about his pursuits the wrong way.

Then have MBJ redemption arc to live up to ideals of T’challa and earn the mantle of Black Panther.

I’m sure better writers than me can smooth that out, but that’s the gist and I think something they could easily retcon to work

According to Deadline, early estimates for the second weekend at the box office for Captain America: Brave New World are at just over $30 million. Unless there is a major upset, it will remain at the top of the domestic box office, beating out Neon's horror comedy The Monkey, which is looking to make a killing at $17 million. That said, a $30 million figure after making $100 over the first weekend, albeit during a holiday, puts the drop among the MCU's worst. Even discounting the extra day, which would put it at an $88 million opening, it is still a major drop from weekend to weekend. If these projections hold, Brave New World could have trouble reaching the milestone necessary to turn a profit.

Like they did with Star Wars, oh wait

As they are proving with Star Wars, they will do with Marvel. Disney has no idea how to tell a story people want to hear. They are in such a damn bubble with themselves.

It has zero shot at a profit but there's always Snow White...

It helped that the earlier movies had much better acting talent.

Apparently better writers than you do not work for Marvel/Disney, or else they get overruled. I think I would have enjoyed your version much more.

I saw BNW last night. It was not bad. I rather enjoyed it but definitely not my favorite.

Just what I expected, 82% drop second week. All the diehards saw it but nobody else cares. It’ll finish around 350-400m tops

That was just for Friday. The weekend drop will be 65-70%. Still terrible though.

LOL

unless there is some weird new MASSIVE market they haven't tapped into, like China-sized, it won't sniff 300 million at this point

And when they do their earnings and we find out what the movie ACTUALLY cost, this could be really bad.

Shame. Movie was better than the hate it got. Won't even get Dark World numbers

This thing will have to get a second wind to hit The Eternals numbers (Jeebus!). Fingers crossed, it could edge out 2008 Hulk.

Will the media's rationale be that moviegoers are all racist?

Did you mean 400? This will easily surpass 300. It'll be around 250-260WW once the international numbers come in today.
