I get choked up with stuff every now and then, but man that scene and when him and Jim are talking in the office... "best boss I ever had" I not gonna lie, I was tearing up bad.

That was an amazing moment in television. That entire scene is some GOAT level stuff

Of all the ridiculous shite people at Dunder Mifflin get away with doing during the work day this is the thing that has you put your foot down?

Of course not. But IMO there is a huge difference between "office hijinks" and going to a movie in the middle of the work day.

And 0-8 downvote ratio? Must be some Pam apologists up in here.

maybe it's b/c everyone would love to bang Pam, and don't appreciate you nit picking on her and her awesome funbags. Sure she can be aggravating, and a bitch, and irrational. She's a woman, what do you expect.
And your examples of the movie and the airport are just for tv. it's not reality.
You made a good point about the art and Philly though.

I hate the anti-Pam crowd. She isn't perfect but she's far from terrible.

The camera man shite was unnecessary but I don't really hate anything else about her.

Always bugs me in the episode when Jim and Pam have been fighting and are going to counseling, etc that when Jim comes back to the office to hug Pam in the parking lot because he’s hurting and loves her, it takes her a good ten seconds to actually hug him back. Like the guy is clearly broken and so is she and while he is making and effort to show her physical affection, she just stands there like it’s the first time she has ever been hugged in her life.

IMO that's a real response.

Yup, and that's why Jim put up with it at the end of the day

Maybe it's because the Scranton airport is tiny and easier to talk your way through security?

No.

I’ve been to much smaller airports than Scranton. They are staffed by TSA and the process is the same other than not having body scanners.

And at one point, we see her walk into a fricking movie (The King's Speech, I believe). What the hell is she thinking going to a fricking movie in the middle of a workday? How the hell would she possibly think that was a good idea or that it was something okay to do during work hours.

Brian Beshara did this when we worked a summer job together. Don't remember the name of the movie. And yes, he got caught.

Pam hate below, so here's some PamPams for balance:

I don't think I've seen the Michael's last day episode recently enough to really get deep into it other than I've always been bothered by Pam's abject laziness. Not to excuse any of the other characters' goofing off, but Pam has always sort of reminded me of lazy former coworkers. Going to see a movie on the clock is absurd.

Regarding the Athlead/Philly thing... I feel like Jim is kiiiinda justified for keeping it from her because he could easily predict Pam's shitty/unsupportive reaction. Being largely unsuccessful in most aspects of her life, I don't think Pam was even in a position to evaluate the Athlead opportunity anyway. It wasn't even that big of a gamble! Other than their nest egg investment of 10k, Jim still had his job at DM. I didn't even connect the Philly thing with a second art/design opportunity for Pam (which she wouldn't have capitalized on because she traditionally doesn't care to do anything to improve their lives). Pam was a huge baby about Jim being gone to Philly and her having to do childcare by herself. You can have a tough time without guilting your partner needlessly. I feel like Jim gets too much credit for being a 'good guy' but Pam deserves to be roasted for the anchor that she is.

I took a long lunch when Jackass 3D came out and watched it at AMC in Perkins Rowe with my brother on the clock

I think Pam gets too much hate honestly. In the list of most annoying wives/girlfriends in sitcom history she’s near the bottom for me.

I more hated that Jim was a fricking pussy and let Pam walk all over him throughout the entire show.

Eta: but Pam did suck though.

Why didn't she just stay at work and play solitaire on her computer all day like everybody else?

This is so insanely off base. Not to sound too much like ZOU, but Jim was a beta male pussy for most of the show.

College friends form Athlead, ask Jim to come on board, he and Pam discuss it and reach the conclusion that it isn't best for their family, then he unilaterally changed his mind. That's some weak shite, and Pam could have, should have, had about 1000 worse, less supportive reactions.

The absolute worst part is when they're fighting and Jim says "I'm doing this for the family." No Jim, you're doing it for yourself but you're too wimpy to tell Pam that you deserve happiness too.

It's not that unrealistic. I know a girl who occasionally takes "long lunch breaks" to go see a movie. Her boss just doesn't keep close tabs on her and as long as nothing is on fire, she can get away with it.

At that point I think Pam had realized she was never going to be a good salesperson and was just trying to figure out what her role was in the office. I can get her just not caring anymore and wanting to do something spontaneous.

The airport goodbye was unrealistic but emotional impact trumps realisim for me when it comes to storytelling. They could have parted ways right before the security gate but that lacks the punch if he simply turns around to get in a line rather than getting on the plane. There's more finality to it with the way it was done.

Pam revealed herself when she went full-on witch with her negative reaction to Michael dating her mother. She is nothing but selfish and self-centered.

Michael's eventual actions showed Pam was right to be concerned but regardless of Michael being a feckless jerk, she should have held her tongue and not involved herself in her mother's decision.

Regarding Jim and Philly, I don’t remember Pam talking to Jim before she, on a random “I’m not fulfilled” whim, decides to quit her job on the spot and join the Michael Scott Paper Company.

The worst part of this is that she made a freaking camera crew follow her to “price copiers,” and then left them standing outside for 2 hours while she saw a movie. Those guys really got shite on a lot when you think about it.

I mean she knows what a complete idiot michael can be and how he has a terrible track record with women.

I think it was perfectly understandable to be pissed. And they hid it from her for a bit so that made it even worse.

And she finally warms up to it and michael breaks up with her at dinner when he finds out how old she was. That's pretty bad. She was right in the end, it played out like she knew it would.
