No that’s not why. Yes Fox is dishonest and disgusting as well but the difference is a couple things. First off they’re open about their sensationalist hosts being biased, something CNN refuses to do. Secondly their reporting doesn’t alter the mechanical facts of any situation. They spin and they give incomplete reporting but they don’t outright lie about the actual event which CNN constantly does. Just doing the bare minimum gives them the advantage of appearing authentic even when they aren’t because CNN is 100% false. Thats the difference

Yeah, that actually makes a lot of sense. Well said.

NewsNation is actually pretty fair and balanced. I try to get news from various sources but I find myself tuning in to their line up most often now.

I truly believe that 24/7 cable news, opportunists who have weaponized it, and the people who can’t turn it off are destroying our country.

Conservative Boomers sticking with their cable subscriptions while liberals likely consume news through other outlets
TV ratings are not nearly as important as tracking views across all communications platforms

For those who like podcasts, Business Wars has a very interesting season on Fox News vs CNN. And yes, it covers the controversial decision to call Arizona early.

CNN viewers sample news.
FOX viewers leave it on almost 24-7.
This explains why Fox is the overall leader, but why is MSNBC in 2nd place and CNN is practically absent? Hell, they are literally absent from the top 25 (per radio source) and completely literally absent from the top 15 (per link).
Boomers having Fox News on all day long doesn't completely explain it.

Without getting specific it can be summed up as this. One network has handled the biggest news story of the past decade better than the other one has and the ratings reflect that. Jeff Zucker shoulders a lot of the blame.

You are literally retarded.
You can't make this stuff up.

quote:Because there's a subset of hard liberals who watch MSNBC like the hard right watches FOX. CNN is for people who go there when something happens, not for the nightly entertainment of watching Maddow yell about Trump or Ingraham defend Trump. MSNBC and FOX are more entertainment than news. Like I said, CNN and FOX are apples and oranges when it comes to their goals.

I’d be curious to see what these numbers are like compared to 10-20 years ago.

Me too. I don't have the numbers in front of me but I still remember Fox being the overall leader, but MSNBC was still CNN's little brother.

CNN was 2nd about a decade ago at around 500k viewers behind Fox News. Fox News has lead in viewership since 2002

Anybody dumb enough to watch 24/7 cable news probably voted for Trump. Of course Fox is #1.

Maddow has massive numbers for that network. Can’t believe people watch that bit*h.
Posted on 5/1/25 at 2:23 pm to dallastiger55
She’s the same as the people on Fox, but at least she’s not North Korean style State TV.

So who would you say is the closest to a “neutral” cable news station?
