Shipping up to Boston tomorrow for vacation and watching this in preparation. I don’t care what critics say, this’ll always be one of my favorites.

The first and second ones are guilty pleasures of mine. Wife loves them too.

It is worth a watch for the Pepsi joke. Oh wait, I seem to recall they recut that scene and it is no longer Pepsi.

Funny how time changes opinions. Lots of folks loved it when they finally got around to watching it, but it seems to get more hate now than while the cult following was developing.

All can agree that Boondocks II might be one of the worst films ever and Julie Benz has the worst accent ever contrived by a decent actor. Maybe ties Cameron Diaz for her horrible southern accent in The Box.

DaFoe crushed it in that role! One of my all time favorites. It's fun to watch it a couple times a year. The bar scene alone is worth the watch.

You and your fookin rope.

I shouldn't have but laughed way too hard when the cat gets smoked. That whole scene cracks me up.

Funniest line in the movie

You're Chekov? Well this here's McCoy. We find a Spock and we got ourselves an away-team!

I was working at Blockbuster when this movie came out. One night a car pulls up and a girl comes in and asks if we have The Boondock Saints. I look and find we have a few VHS copies for sale (for some reason the DVD rights were weird and we never got them, I remember calling around and found a store that would order it but it was going to be like $60) she buys it and goes out to her car. She doesn't leave and someone else gets out and comes in and buys another copy. After he leaves I went and grabbed a copy and bought it for myself because I had never seen that happen before.

I watched it and loved it. I also recommend the documentary Overnight about the writer and director Troy Duffy. What an a-hole this guy was and he basically made nothing from the movie iirc. He signed a big deal with Miramax and was such an arse that they didn't let him make the movie, he eventually gets distribution from another company but has no rights to home video sales.

I just went down a bit if that rabbit hole. It did like $45k in theaters and $50m+ on video in the US alone.

What an amazing diamond in the rough that movie was. That it was a Blockbuster exclusive was a tragedy. Damned near never found it available on the shelves - it rocketed to cult favorite status almost immediately.

Boondock Saints, Rounders, Swingers, and Clerks were in heavy rotation amongst my friend group. Throw in Leon the Professional, 5th Element, Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction and 99% of the time if you were at their house, one of those were on in the background. Maybe the occasional South Park, Chris Rock stand up, Chappelle show.
