I"m not saying his death wasn't brutal but it was a little anticlimactic for me. Still a great character and a great episode.
i think its fitting. Gyp didnt treat anyone right. He shite where he ate. Jillian originally was tolerant of him because she wanted Gyp to kill Nucky (avenging Jimmy's death). The dude who killed Gyp watched Gyp beat his family member's skull in with a shovel on the beach.

its not anti-climactic as much as it shows there really is no honor among thieves, especially when those thieves dont even pretend to treat his own minions right. what goes around comes around for Gyp, just like it did for Rothstein.

Wasn't that the guy who watched Gyp beat his nephew's skull in with a shovel? I loved that he got to do the actaul killing. The shovel on the beach scene was the most disturbing kill of the series, IMO.
eh, it was def a top kill, but most disturbing kill of the series for me is still the baptism/drowning in season one. Van Alden drowned the dude at the baptism in front of the whole entire congregation.... that was the most wtf kill ever. we all knew Gyp was super crazy from day one, and while we knew Van Alden was rigidness was def off, it still knocked the wind out of me.

Yeah and the whole botched drug deal fits in with the timeline.

And Rothstein is supposedly the one to help him regain the clout....so I don't know where that's going because he seems as if Rothstein is done with Lucky based on that tantrum.

Quick question:

What was the point of Capone and Chalky killing Masseria's men if they were already pulling back to New York?

Show Masseria that Atlantic City is not to be effed with?

Same exact question. I thought Joe Masseria would want those men since he placed such great value on them in his discussion to Gyp.

I missed a couple of episodes before the finale. Who are the people Richard left Tommy with?

It was an older war veteran and his daughter. Harrow has since fallen for the daughter and the feelings are mutual.

Quick question that may have been answered:

Why the hell did Nucky and Eli go to the whorehouse wIthout more muscle? For all they knew, there were at least all of Gyp's men in there. They would've been walking into certain death.

because the rest of the crew [chalky's people & Capone's people] killed all of Gyp's men in the forest.

Here's an interview with Terrence Winter about last night's episode and the season in general. Clears up a few questions including Gillian's fate and such. So I guess some very slight spoilers about next season.

awesome article.

funny that everyone bitched about not showing the owen killing scene, and why they didnt show it on the show.

also, glad gillian is not dead. she is one of th ebetter characters on the show.

This bothered me a little bit as well. Two guys, one with a revolver, against Gyp and his 8-9 guys? It just didn't really fit well in an otherwise great finale.

Those were Masseria's men, not Gyp's.

Lucky is the one who really has to start over. Lansky, Rothstein, and Masseria have no reason to trust or rely on him anymore.

Lucky and Lasky were best friends from kids. From what i understand Lasky was the brains and Lucky was the muscle i their whole operation. Without Lucky, Lasky wouldnt have had any influence because of him being jewish.

My guess would be Lanskey 2, Nucky 3.

The guy second from the right looks like the guy that plays the mayor on the show. Wonder if it is the mayor.
