That wasn't the mayor.
That was George O'Neill, a ward boss who defected to the Commodore's side.
And yeah, he was the fat guy who got robbed and clocked by the D'Alessio brothers on the Boardwalk in the first season.

there is so much going on in every scene and they rarely burden you with expository dialogue, this is the only show I can't text or go on td.com, every scene is incredibly dense

best EP of the season. don't worry about promintown -- if it's not blindly supporting LSU, he doesn't know what the frick he's talking about
everything harrow was awesome. think the camping scene kind of symbolized his army days and him returning to normalcy in that setting. so glad he didn't off himself and jimmy gave him some love at the end. after the pep talk harrow has his head on straight and is as ruthless as ever with the scalping. BRAVO BROTHER

loved the nucky/eli fight. it wasn't overly violent but thought it depicted how two brothers would go at it to a T.
if the driveman sees anyone offing themself its eli....dudes in huge debt, no one to turn to and has 8 kids and a wife he has to support. he just got into a brawl with his bro and snapped and killed one of his associates. he's fricked
really see this season ending with nucky in jail and jimmy officially taking control of AC. he gave his first public address tonight.

Yet another great episode with a lot going on.
The way Jimmy overcame the shakes before the speech reveals that he has character & strength that Eli clearly lacks. (compared to how Eli choked during his speech to the Irish group while trying to "step up" and be a leader)
Nucky thought he was going to expose a weakness in Jimmy, but it looks like his plan may have backfired.
