The lake scene is probably the worst death scene I've ever watched. I can tell that blood and guts on screen are effects, but that scene without the effects, without the music, without the dramatic camera movements, was like watching Faces of Death. Maybe if Fincher had shot the whole thing in the dark like Seven and Fight Club it would be taken more seriously

Or like Henry, portrait of a Serial Killer.
Which was so dispassionate kills and no dramatic tension.
The pure innocence of the characters in not believing someone would kill them - that if they just complied, he'd take their money and that would be it...is what's chilling.

My wife and I first date was "Devil wears Prada"
Zodiac was the second one.
Scared the shite out her!!!!
Downey Jr. was as usual in this.
Robert Graysmith: Does anybody ever call me names?
Paul Avery: What, you mean like "retard"?
Robert Graysmith: Yeah.
Paul Avery: No.

Woman: Have you ever considered the killer might be Paul Avery?
Toschi: Frequently.
This was one of my favorite lines

The Rewatchables Podcast did an episode on Zodiac a few months ago if anyone is interested in listening.
I think Zodiac is a masterpiece and have watched it many times.

I see from the first page that I'm in the minority, but. . . I think Zodiac is very overrated.

caught this last night for the first time in a while and forgot how good it is.
Everyone in this movie is great, especially Ruffalo and Gyllenhall. Downy is great as well.
Has the classic Fincher look to it, case is fascinating to follow.
This might be my favorite Fincher movie behind Seven.
Thoughts on Zodiac?
Where do you place it in the Fincher canon?
Zodiac often gets tagged as one of the most underrated films of all time. It's definitely one of my favorites.

Loved it.
My favorite is the girl with the dragon tattoo.
Fincher was the only one who could make that movie good in my opinion.
Also, the weird mystery behind the author and what he may have known about the elite just added to the creepiness.

It’s a very good movie. Painfully underrated and under appreciated.

Well...with the exception of the guy who made the entire trilogy already which are considered good movies.
