Oh no thank you.

The trailer tells me nothing, except that his fight choreography looks more like he's doing dance moves than fighting. It has a cheesy feel that seems a bit like black Catwoman. Hopefully, it won't follow it and Spawn into the dumpster of black superhero movies.

Yeah...I'm excited to see it, but there's no way I'm going opening night. I actually want to be able to hear the fricking dialog...and, well...

This is more along the lines of what I'm expecting....just another typical MCU film.

quote:

The problem is that Black Panther takes a while to really find its footing. Although the film is mostly self-contained from the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, putting all of the pieces into place from the fallout of Captain America: Civil War takes time, and the first act feels like the slowest and the weakest portion of the film. Things get much better once the central story gets moving, but there's a strong case to be made for the argument that Black Panther doesn't handle the transition out of Civil War as well as Spider-Man: Homecoming, and that it would've been better as a straight origin movie.

Ryan Coogler's Black Panther is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most powerful, moving, and thematically resonant films to date. It's also one of its most uneven, when all is said and done. Marvel Studio's Phase 3 still has yet to produce a single bad movie. Having said that, Black Panther's clunky first act, sometimes cumbersome cast size, and hit-or-miss visuals make this one of Phase 3's most inconsistent entries to date.

Honestly I kinda feel bad for the writers and directors. They wont get a fair review of the film.

Yeah, Thor was good, but there was something off about it that I couldn’t put my finger on. I was just feeling burnt out. The Last Jedi made this crystal clear. Really I’m not all that excited for IW, although I’m sure I’ll go see both at the theater, because at this point, why the hell not?

Well these are certainly statements you don't usually see about Marvel Villains:

quote:

Most of all — in a bonafide Marvel rarity — it’s true of the film’s villain, Erik “Killmonger” Stevens. Played by Michael B. Jordan in a swaggering performance that burns with the same fire he and Coogler lit in “Creed,” Erik is an American-raised Wakandan exile who kills for a living and lives for the chance to avenge the historic and ongoing wrongs that have been brought to bear against black people across the world. He resents the fact that Wakanda has removed itself from the narrative of slavery and imperialism, and he wants to use the nation’s power to flip that script in the most violent ways. (“I’ma burn it all!”)

Takes balls to make the villain a militant black man.

quote:

while Killmonger keeps his cards up his sleeve until relatively late in the film but emerges as the most satisfying comic-book adversary since Heath Ledger’s Joker.

This statement is so over-the-top it makes me doubt the entire review. I mean, I hope it's true but, damn.

considering it’s had the highest number of presale tickets for a marvel movie ever

This record will be broken when infinity wars comes out.

More and more theaters are allowing presale tickets now. More opportunity to sell. Still pretty impressive but don't pretend like it is only because of the hype for the movie and not the time we are in.

It really doesn't matter what the movie is about to you, that's apparent.

Are you suggesting that many critics are afraid of giving a movie with an all black cast a bad review?

They did pan All Eyez on Me, but that was damn near unwatchable.

Still can't help but think this is Coming to America with superheroes.

I love the MCU but even I'm ready for it to be over.
