I think Billy Porter’s great.

But I have little to no desire to see another version of Cinderella. I liked the Disney live-action version with Lily James fine as it was (yes I know this is Sony, it just seems redundant since Disney’s live-action wasn’t that long ago).

Billy Porter is a good actor imo

I'd like to see if he has the chops to play something that doesn't focus on his sexuality. But he does well in the roles he takes

I don’t care at all about this movie.

But damn. What a different world we lived in when this thread was started.

Sigh.

Looks EXACTLY like you would think it would look in today's hollywood.

In the left's all-out rampage to eliminate everything hetero and white... they have zero vision of how they are catering to every single damn stereotype known to society.

Why would you watch that trailer? Did you really think it would be anything other than what it is?

Is this the neck-rolling, finger-snapping "I don't need no man!" version of Cinderella?

Cinderella is not an Original Disney idea, it existed well before Disney’s two versions of it.

Having said that, this is going to be a no for me.

Speaking of Pocahontas though, walking around Disney this week, I have seen exactly zero mention or even merchandise for her. Thought that was a bit peculiar. Same thing with Mulan, but that will change next Spring.

Disneyland or DisenyWorld?

This is weird. I didn’t even know this was a thing. Seems weird to me to superimpose modern day values/ideologies on an old story while still keeping it set in roughly the same time period, which makes it all seem very anachronistic. But whatever. This movie isn’t meant for me, and I almost certainly won’t see it. Not gonna get upset over it. Don’t like the concept, don’t watch it. Those who do like it will. Simple enough. This isn’t “ruining my childhood,”’ or whatever.

Someone somewhere will be inspired by it, and that’s great.

I'm sure there were people out there who were inspired by Mein Kampf. The point? Being inspired by dog shite isn't always a good thing.

That is without a doubt the most stupid comparison I’ve ever read. Good job

I wasn't comparing anything. I was simply saying that not all inspiration is good inspiration. Mein Kampf was mentioned for the purposes of eliciting laughter. I clearly did a good job with that, but the point I was making (sadly) sailed right over your head. This despite the fact that I told you what the point was in my OP.

I'm more offended that there's another live-action Disney movie being made

Disney doesn't own the rights to Cinderella. I prefer Roger's and Hammerstein's live action version since that is the one I watched every year when I was a kid.

I understand the comparison and think it’s fairly apt.

I want people who have gender dysphoria to have the choice to do whatever they want when they’re of age. I don’t think encouraging it however, is a good idea under any circumstances.

Just because something is inspiring doesn’t mean it’s good. Just like because something is nostalgic, means it’s good.

Sadly, critical thinking and the proper teaching of history is being cast aside in favor of feelings

I got a little over half way through that trailer and I’d rather watch an abortion than finish it.

Does it end with the fairy godmother getting the prince?

Chris Tucker did it better than Billy does.
