Yes. It was in the outtakes but not the movie. It was not delivered as a serious critique of his acting or comedy in Liar Liar.

Liar Liar was the rare Jim Carrey movie where his physical comedy was somewhat restrained (unlike Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, or The Mask for example).

And Liar Liar might be his second or third best movie behind D&D and The Mask.

Regarding physical only, you don’t think he was restrained in Dumb and Dumber (my favorite comedy of all-time)?

No, he didn't act like he was having a full Fire Marshall Bill episode for 90 minutes but he was extremely retarded. Which was the point of casting him in that character.

Stooges. There will never be anyone better.

But between those two it's Jim Carrey.

Jim Carey has more range than Michael Richards, and can do more things that Richards, but, the one character that Michael Richards perfected is better than anything Jim Carey ever did.

Jim.

He deserves an Oscar for the scene in Me, Myself and Irene when he transforms into Hank for the first time.

I’d say Jim Carrey. I’m not sure who else would be in the convo other than him and Michael Richards, especially for how long their careers were/have been.

Buster Keaton
Charlie Chaplin

(Modern era of course:) Ty Burrell has done some amazing things on Modern Family. And people forget how great Chevy was.

Richards…. His physical comedy evolved and was aligned with the script he was doing.

We just kept seeing Jim Carrey do the same old “….. aaallll righty them…l schtick in every role.

the fact that Richards has no movie career completely answers the question. Top level actors make it on the big screen.

As someone who has watched a lot of Three’s Company I can agree with this.

Richards has some memorable moments from "Seinfeld", and has been in quite a few movies, but other than a couple of them, they weren't memorable.

Even though I don't really care for many of Jim Carrey's movies with his over the top performances, he is in a league of his own when it comes to physical comedy for folks that like that genre.

Carrey. Best physical comedian since Lucille Ball. Robin Williams is the only modern one I would put in the same conversation but he is almost in a different category.

Context is key… he was doing things in the late 80s/early 90s that nobody else was doing. I want to go back and re-watch some of his movies that I didn’t care for when I was younger. Cable Guy comes to mind… released at the same time as The Nutty Professor, which 14 year old me thought was hilarious. Cable Guy was too dark for my tastes then. I bet it plays better now.

Watch it again, Cable Guy is arguably his best work during that era. His performance is unsettling but

I liked Kramer as a single character more than any single Jim Carrey character, but the answer to the question is clearly Carrey.

Not even sure how it’s debatable
