Murray and Murphy were great. I haven't watched the show in 30 years so my opinion is limited! 
When it first came out I was in High school. Nothing like it! It was a great date night finisher. That first cast was amazing.
Akroyd had some great skits.
That one where he blended the bass!
Murphy's Buckwheat is another favorite of mine!

The worst guest I can recall was Wayne Gretzky. He was terrible. Payton Manning on the other hand was a good guest host.

Aykroyd definitely makes my top 5, as does Bill Murray.
Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, and Jon Lovitz also could merit some mention in a top 10.

Tbh most of snl was not that funny...
Chapelle show was hands down funnier and did it in a way shorter time with one character...just sayin
