Psycho and The Hitcher deserve a mention here.

I haven't seen The house that Jack built but they say it's seriously fricked up.

Because it was also a dark comedy.

Manhunter and Kalifornia never really got the press they deserved.

The novel was great. The movie, not so much.

Not to put too fine a point on it but they were more in the spree killer class.

"The deliberate stranger" was an excellent tv film series.

I am biased toward Citizen X because of the great cast, and the setting of 80s USSR. Terrible crimes made possible/worst because of Gov't. Much like Chernobyl.

Another different Soviet classic..... Gorky Park.

Some of my favorites that I suppose fit the genre are..

The Snowtown Murders
Mr. Brooks

Identity

Actually, that's exactly what makes a serial killer.

Yeah but that dude was a for-hire killer. When I think of Serial killers, I think unhinged lunatics killing people for no reason other than they are crazy. Bonnie and Clyde killed frick tons of people but they we’re bank robbers trying not to get caught.

I watched it last week. It is seriously fricked up. I wouldn't call it a great movie by any means though.
