Like a lot of movies, there is a lot of cool background music and snippets of music that isn’t on the soundtrack album. I noticed when watching the movie many years after it came out that there is a part where you here Spoonman by Soundgarden playing. I looked it up and the movie came out almost a year and a half before that song was released.

Just looked and Spponman was included as a bonus track on the 2017 re-release. Also found this:

Other songs used in the movie but not included in either edition of its soundtrack are: "Three Days" by Jane's Addiction, "Little Girl" by Muddy Waters, "Dig For Fire" by the Pixies, "Radio Song" by R.E.M., "Blue Train" by John Coltrane, "Family Affair" by Sly & The Family Stone, "She Sells Sanctuary" by The Cult, and "Jinx" by Tad.

The Last Action Hero has the best rock soundtrack of any movie ever made.

Same with FM (which ironically is a perfect time capsule of AM radio of the mid to late 70's).

not entire soundtrack, but the opening scene to Demon Knight with Hey Man Nice Shot blaring was pretty good.
