My sister told me my 13yo nephew is interested in becoming a lawyer one day. So she made him read A Time To Kill by John Grisham and then they watched the movie together. So she was hitting me up for other good book and or movie ideas for him next. Here's what I got:

A Time to Kill
To Kill a Mockingbird
The Firm
Pelican Brief
Rainmaker
A Few Good Men
My Cousin Vinny
Philadelphia
Erin Brockovich
Michael Clayton
Liar Liar
Presumed Innocent
Lincoln Lawyer

Not quite old enough, but great movies:
Primal Fear
Devil's Advocate

What other movies can you think of?

Edit: recommended in this thread:

The Judge
Miracle on 34th Street
RBG
Verdict
Inherit the Wind
True Believer
The Caine Mutiny
Amistad
Dark Waters
12 Angry Men
And Justice for All
A Civil Action
Night Falls on Manhattan
Runaway Jury
Fracture
Legally Blonde
Intolerable Cruelty
Anatomy of a Murder
The Client
Witness
Listen to Me
Find Me Guilty
Legal Eagles
Law Abiding Citizen
Nuts
The Paper Chase
In the Name of the Father
Reversal of Fortune
Judgment at Nuremberg
Absence of Malice
Suspect

Was about to say how could you skip A Time to Kill, then actually read your post

The only ones that jumps out that I really like are:
The Judge
Miracle on 34th, B&W version (probably already seen)

I've heard good things about RBG, but I have not seen it myself. May also be worth it to him to see some of the ACB confirmation hearings in case he has some great aspirations.

Verdict is a mesmerizing cinematic experience.
Inherit the Wind is a historical necessity.
My sentimental favorite from my youth, however, is True Believer starring James fricking Woods (and a very young and probably coked-up RDJ).

Realistic?

A Civil Action

When Travolta says I'm talking about justice and Duvall says justice? I thought we were talking about a court of law.

Takes on the issue of money and court procedure and delays in trying to bring a suit and win a suit against deep pockets. And shows justice is predicted on the balance of power time and money from both sides.

12 Angry Men
Murder In the First
Dead Man Walking

Old Perry Mason episodes are good to, but pretty unrealistic. Most movies are too though, so there's that.

That's alright, if you like one of the ones I already listed, tell us your favorite parts or link a clip. I can watch My Cousin Vinny anytime I scroll past it on the channel guide.

Although it's a little outdated, I really enjoyed "Anatomy of a Murder" for its courtroom experience.

And, Lee Remick was HAWT!

ETA: The movie also makes me want to visit the Upper Peninsula. I've never been there but it's definitely a place I'd like to visit. I'd love to make a trip to visit the U.P. and Mackinac Island and stay at the Grand Hotel for couple of days.

Rainmaker has always been a favorite for slow burn cerebral lawyer film. The Firm also falls into that category.

Runaway Jury is also enjoyable,. Also prolly Cusaks last good leading role.
