Not really a prequel. It’s a reboot.

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is the best prequel.

We're talking about movies not books though.

Right but the films are based on the books.

I think "prequels," to go back and tell the origin of a story after the main thrust of a story has already been made/produced, is a very different thing from out of order stories or releases. Hence my first post. This is also goes for reboots, that don't add to, but seek to reform something.

There are different kinds of challenges to bring in cohesion and meaning, than just bringing already written material to screens out of order.

So far we are at 2-3 movies that can actually count as a prequel lol

So Monsters U is #1 now with the strict rules.
Revenge of the Sith is also a prequel to the originals, just not the first prequel. It is 10x better than The Phantom Menace.

Clone Wars and Rebels are both great prequels to the OT.

For pure movies, I offer Puss n Boots.

I believe the Hobbit cartoon was before the LOTR cartoon but I could be mistaken.

Regardless, The Hobbit was well known before the LOTR movies. I rule it as invalid.

Would Wonder Woman be considered a prequel to BvS?

There are others like Gotham, The X Men first class films, etc where I am a little fuzzy on whether they are prequels. With Gotham, even though it's a prequel to the general story of Batman, there is no actual film or show that it is tied to in that specific universe.

I'm disappointed no one has mentioned the cinematic masterpiece that is Episode II, Attack of the Clowns.

Does Casino Royale count? I submit that masterpiece if so.

If not, I thought Fantastic Beasts was fun

The Last Jedi. It's the prequel to the regime of SJW Star Wars characters

It is a solid prequel, yes.

It is also a sequel. Invalid.

Kidding.
