According to Deadline, Michael Lesslie will create, write and executive produce the series. Lesslie was the showrunner on AMC's The Little Drummer Girl and was also the screenwriter of the Assassin's Creed movie.

This Battlestar reboot will also be exec produced by Mr. Robot's Sam Esmail. Deadline says Lesslie will completely reimagine the world of BSG.

“I am beyond excited to be taking on this iconic and inspirational show. As a lifelong devotee, I know that the possibilities of Battlestar Galactica’s world are infinite and that each iteration has raised the bar for epic and intelligent sci-fi storytelling," Leslie said.

"The teams at Esmail Corp, UCP and Peacock are second to none, and I already know that we are going to honour Glen A Larson and Ronald D Moore’s landmark series and break new boundaries with our own vision. It’s a dream come true – one I just can’t wait to share with fans, new and old alike. So say we all.”

I reserve judgment until I see who they cast as Twiki. You get that right and everything else falls into place

A reboot of a reboot, not simply another reboot of the original.

This is getting deep, man. But I hope for lots of shiny silver Cylons.

This is dumb. The previous reboot was spectacular until the studios were forced to shut down prematurely. Even then that final season was pretty good given their circumstances and requirements to rush.

Why the hell do we need yet another reboot? Leave it alone

Seems like we don't have nearly enough info to make that assumption.

Will develop a cult following that is not as strong as the 2004 reboot with 2 seasons on cable TV then cancelled, 1 season on Hulu before permanent cancellation is my prediction.

A mediocre 70's tv series was re-made into a fantastic 2000's series. Why the hell does this need to be re-re-done?

You ain’t replacing Edward James Olmos and Bear McCreary so why the frick would you even try? Even with Esmail at the helm.

A different story in the same kind of universe? Okay. This shite though? I don’t see it.

Based on this dude saying he doesn't want to do a shot for shot, episode by episode remake of the last series?

I don't know why they're rebooting a series that was constantly on the brink of cancelation, but they are. Would you have been happy if he said he wanted to just recast the same exact scripts? I doubt it.

why are those the only 2 options?

What about continuing the rebooted universe in some way?

Dont even come in here with this. I'm still livid over the dumpster fire that Amazon is doing with the Wheel of Time. Every freaking thing has to be "reimagined" now to toe the diversity rainbow.

Oh the book explicitly detailed each character? Well it would be better served to make them diverse because diversity. Forget the fact that those characters and the original material is the reason its popular. Diversity, gays, and strong black women that's what really matters, not the story as it was written.
