Batman Forever is underrated

Just throwing out some appreciation for this film, I recently read that there is a darker Schumacher cut of Batman Forever, would love to see this because you can see the dark aspects of it, they just kept getting interrupted by campiness.
The gap between Batman Forever and the Nolan trilogy is closer than the gap between Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Although I do love Arnold as Mr. Freeze.
Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones chewing the scenery…Nicole Kidman at peak Nicole Kidman and easily the best superhero film theme song ever with Seal’s “Kiss From a Rose”...Val Kilmer was a quality bridge between Keaton and Christian Bale. Closer to Bale’s brooding take on Bruce Wayne but Keaton’s whisper Batman voice. The movie should have been better than it was.

Arnold looks like he had a fricking blast making this movie

Forever might have been great if Jones had not been playing the Joker as Two-Face, Carrey had been replaced with Ralph Fiennes, and the producers had not cast a full grown adult as Grayson/Robin (who is supposed to be Bruce Wayne’s ward). Oh, and no nipples on the batsuit.

The nipples were a problem

Compared to Keaton, Bale basically never brooded. Bale’s Bruce Wayne has been the third-most well-adjusted live-action Batman after West and Clooney.
Meanwhile, Keaton was a goth kid with a billion dollar fortune and high-tech weapons.
When we catch with Keaton in Batman Returns, he’s got nothing better to do than to sit around in his lonely manor, in the dark, and wait for the Batsignal.

100% it is. A lot of it is nostalgic but it’s not that bad

It's not bad for a popcorn flick.
Better than the recent DCEU.
What a minute, is this the one where he drives the batmobile upside a building?

it's funny you mention that because Val has recently came out and said he'd love to play Batman again.

I always enjoyed Forever. It was a fun 90s popcorn flick

Tommy Lee Jones was so bad in the movie. I think everything else worked but man, I can't help but imagine how much better the movie would have been if they kept on Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent.
I think Tommy thought he was playing the Joker.

It was great as a kid. Also:
-Nipples didn’t show up until B&R
-Kilmer was supposedly terrible to work with
-Tommy Lee telling Jim Carrey he hated him

It absolutely is not underrated. It’s hot garbage that based on this thread is still overrated

- Nipples are definitely there
- That's par for Kilmer
- Didn't know that

Forever is underrated IMO. Mainly because it was overly campy, but it felt intentional. Which makes a huge difference I think.
Is it ridiculous and silly? Of course. But it’s fun as hell. And Carrey is great IMO.

We knew it was hot garbage when it came out. Pathetic attempt to collect more dollars off the original.

"Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" by U2
"One Time Too Many" by PJ Harvey
"Where Are You Now?" by Brandy
"Kiss from a Rose" by Seal
"The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game" by Massive Attack and Tracey Thorn (The Marvelettes cover)
"Nobody Lives Without Love" by Eddi Reader
"Tell Me Now" by Mazzy Star
"Smash It Up" by the Offspring (The Damned cover)
"There Is a Light" by Nick Cave
"The Riddler" by Method Man
"The Passenger" by Michael Hutchence (Iggy Pop cover)
"Crossing the River" by the Devlins
"8" by Sunny Day Real Estate

Young Bcla wore this CD out, especially the Offspring and Sunny Day tracks.
And has any one hit wonder in history got as much mileage out of said hit than Seal. Jesus that guy rode that song for decades.
