Great news. We just got home from watching it. I had a blast with it and so did my theater. I just love Will and Martin's chemistry. Keep making them and I'll keep watching.

Agree. We went last night, and while not a cinematic masterpiece in any way, it was a very enjoyable movie.

Good. Not every movie has to be an Oscar masterpiece. Sometimes I just want to have something entertaining, with some action, and just fun. Looking forward to seeing this one.

People will go to the movies if it’s something they’re interested in

The down votes are weird and unsurprising.

Heard it was really good hope I can see it on the big screen soon.

If you want to see a funny r-rated buddy copy movie, this is for you. If not, don’t go see it.

Movie theaters making money is all I care about

But it’s a losing battle I’m sorry to say. Not enough success. Maybe things can improve when Hollywood gets a handle on what actually sells.

Not a Will Smith fan in the last bit, but Domestic at $56M is a good sign for 90s style action films maybe making a comeback.

I think people just want a good time at the movies with no Sci-fi/super hero stuff right now unless it's something like Deadpool, which is basically a one-off type film.

I'm betting Costner's big western will throougglybsurpise folks as well.

Speaking against the narrative will NOT be tolerated. You must go in the hole.

All of your qualifiers are really unnecessary. People just want good movies without overt activism, it doesn’t matter the genre. You and Hollywood don’t seem to understand that.

Even Will Smith has a positive track record that folks are longing for again.

Domestic is $56 million. Fifth place for domestic opening weekends behind:

Dune 2 $82m
Godzilla vs Kong $80m
Kingdom of POTA $58.5m
Kung Fu Panda $57.9m
Bad Boys $56m

The new picture scored well with audiences, with a 97% Rotten Tomatoes audience score, 5-star PostTrak rating, and “A-” CinemaScore ensuring solid play in the weeks to come. Premium Large Format screens were not a big factor, with $5.2M earned on 401 IMAX screens (9.3% of domestic).

Here’s how the 3-Day looked:

Friday – $21.6M
Saturday – $19.5M
Sunday – $14.9M

44% Black
26% Latino and Hispanic
18% Caucasian

Seems like non-gynocentric movies are killing it in the box office lately. Hopefully the tide continues to change.
