As I said before
Chiwetel Ejiofor. . .I am so in.
One of my favorite actors. 2nd after Denzel Washington.

Jeremy Jahns says it gets pretty slow in spots, but enjoyed it overall.

I’m seeing this tomorrow. Tempering my expectations, just hoping they can capture that creepiness of the original shorts

Just watched it. Had some really unsettling scenes. Easily the best horror film I've seen in a long time.

Excited about this. I have the weekend off.
Going to try to catch it tomorrow in an early showing if possible.

Agreed.
I am new to the whole Backrooms stuff...not sure how I missed it but I just watched them all a couple of months ago based on threads on here about this movie. And they are really good. My main concern (that I think I mentioned on the first page since this is an older/bumped thread) is that the low-budgetness of the YT series won't translate well into 2026 cinema. I'm sure it will be fine though.

Isn't that sort of the whole point though? Seems like an odd thing to say about something like the backrooms...the slow, boring, mundane aspect of it is one of things that make it so creepy and unsettling, no?
I don't believe I will get myself to a theater to see this, but I 100% will see it once it hits streaming.

I dunno if you guys want spoilers or not but just in case, don't read the following....
...I enjoyed the film overall but didn't find it scary, IMO. The shorts, particularly FF1 and Pitfalls, were way creepier. The feature definitely had a few solid moments and I appreciated that they kept the entity hidden until the third act but the suspense and tension just never fully landed for me the way the shorts did.
I also wasn't crazy about the entity either although I understand why they went in that direction (I wasn't a fan of the still lifes in the shorts either). Using the Lifeform wouldn't have meshed with the feature's overall theme and story so I get why. Those were my biggest issues along with feeling with the movie spent too much time in the real world. You just felt like you never really got the full "Backrooms" experience if that makes sense.
That said, I still think it's an enjoyable movie and definitely worth watching. I'll even watch it again in theaters. But if you're hoping for a movie that'll make you want to leave the light on tonight, this isn't it.
Some of the scenes do drag on and it does get slow at times but to me, those were mainly the scenes that took place in the real world. I don't recall any scenes really dragging on in the Backrooms besides maybe when he first enters though it's not bad at all and they quickly wake you up with a jolt.

Backrooms? More like boring rooms.

This might be the most pointless movie I've ever seen. I don't know anything about the original stuff but I can't believe the praise this movie is getting. Nothing is explained or makes sense. I can't remember the last time I left this disappointed in a movie and I'm a person that likes weird, artsy movies.

Yep, you go into the backrooms not having a clue what it is and you leave the backrooms without having a clue what it is. Horrible boring pointless film. The backrooms scenes weren’t effective as we’ve seen that from the YouTube stuff and done in a better way.
And then the ending happened and…yikes. So horrible.

I dug the first two acts but the third act falls off a freaking cliff. What the heck was the point of the opening scene when they didn't give you any insight about what was going on? Just a completely pointless movie.

This is what happens when a twenty year old with little life experience tries to frame a message about life and its experience. It becomes hollow, empty and without a point.

Completely agree. I forgot about the first part. It’s like that didn’t even happen. And then there’s mark Duplass and you’re just like what the frick is going on in this scene? Is the peg leg sultan pirate the villain chasing them all? And why was that dude’s shirt in the backrooms? What did they do wrong? Because they worked at the store they are doomed forever? I bet if you asked Kane parsons he wouldn’t have a clue how to answer any of it.

It was fine., I guess.
A couple of creepy scenes in the backrooms but nothing really scary, and for the most part, boring.
The B plot with Reinsve's character was not necessary and head scratching.

I was disappointed.
The scares weren’t really there.
The period where Kat and Bobby were with him in the backrooms was the only period that was well done.
It was slow and boring overall.
It felt like it didn’t really lean into the backrooms enough.
It tried to make the “psych” component too big of a plot point without addressing it at all at the same time.
For example, the psychiatrist’s mother. What was the point of even bringing that in? It served no purpose except to have her use the concrete as a weapon.
Was expecting much more.
Would give it a 5/10, wouldn’t watch a second time.

Yep there are many things they introduce for them to never bring them up again and have no explanation for it. I hate this movie and there were many YouTube reviewers that I usually agree with that loved it

Watched it earlier today and was not impressed. Glad it’s doing well in the box office, but it needed some actual scares. They killed of the daughter from Shrinking and Aerion Brightflame way too quickly.
