I could barely make it through Guardians 2. It was too much copy and paste from the first that just didn’t stick. Specifically the sound track just didn’t seem to fit and the jokes were forced.
Also the movie had zero to do with the Thanos timeline.

To each his own. I loved Guardians 2 and have never gotten the hate. It developed every single character in an interesting way, making them deeper overall.
Also if you don’t tear up at the ending of Yondu’s funeral, the shots of Kraglin and Rocket specifically, while Father and Son plays then you have no soul

Captain marvel
Adam Warlock, on the other hand, was teased in the Easter Egg at the end of GOTG 2. Created by Ayesha after the Guardians ripped her off.
Marvel doesn't do random things in their movies, especially in the eggs.
Would make sense that she sent him after the Guardians, so he'd be on the trail of their ship. He finds it, finds Tony and Nebula instead of the expected Guardians. Since this isn't his target, he can be an anti-hero instead of a rescuer, one they convince to join in.
I know it's been stated he wouldn't be in IW, but was that just the first movie? Are we SURE he isn't in this one?

At this point, Warlock is wayyyyy too big a character to come in at this point. We already have Captain Marvel coming in and that needs to be it. This is the swan song for the original six and introducing Warlock would detract from that a lot
