For some reason this didn't get me nearly as excited and worked up as Inginity Wars did. This feels too soap opera-ish.

TBH Avengers 1 is the only movie that follows the typical "good guys save the world" story arc. In Age of Ultron the threat is a self created issue, an entire city is destroyed, thousands of people needlessly die, and a huge rift between the team is opened up. In Civil War Zemo is actually successful in splitting up the Avengers. In Infinity War half of all life is killed and the villain goes off to his space farm. Things have got nothing but worse for the Avengers throughout the series.
This is a good point and should be reiterated.
I've always thought about how much the Avengers actually frick shite up more than save the world. In most instances they're just cleaning up the mess they caused in the first place. Not to mention they actually lose in Infinity War.
Even in Thor: Ragnarok, sure Thor "wins" in the end, but his whole planet gets destroyed, and ultimately Thanos wipes out his people on the ship anyway. So he didn't really win anything. Thor has had a pretty awful life throughout the whole series.
To say The Avengers follow any typical superhero save the world plot couldn't be further from the truth.

Yeah. Think about it. He’s military. He’d have to be pretty strung out and not giving a shite if he’s not shaving.

Why is someone an idiot because they have a different opinion than you? Some of you take these comic book films way too seriously.

That was supposed to happen. Asgard's destruction is cyclical.

Why does my response to someone calling me a crackhead and a troll (and attempting to hijack the thread, mind you)bother you so much?
Some of y’all take message boards too seriously...
And also Infinity War >>> Dark Knight.

You're partially correct. I don't really read comics. The only superhero comic I have ever read back to front was The Killing Joke. However, I've seen every single Superman movie sans Superman III.
Bottom line, I don't base my like or dislike of a comic book film on how faithful it is to the source material. If it's entertaining I will almost always give it at decent review. Man of Steel, for all of its faults, was entertaining.

You also have Ant Man and the Wasp a higher rating than Thor Ragnarok.
That's because I liked Ant Man and the Wasp more than I did Thor: Ragnarok. It's really that simple.

You're kind of missing my point. You annointed yourself some fair and balanced judge of these movies.

What point is that? I was simply responding to the accusation that I am some DC fanboy. That's what I meant by "fair and balanced." Yes, I have a bias towards Batman but if I think the movie sucks, I will say it sucks. I'm not going to like a movie just because it features Batman.

FIFY.
The best is he brings up innovation in his original grades, but dismisses it in his admitted bias of which characters he likes.

I'm afraid I don't know what you are talking about. None of the DCEU films contain any sort of innovation, whereas some of the earlier MCU films did. Films like Iron Man, The Avengers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are some of the more important comic book films to ever be made. I can't say the same for any of the DCEU films.
Posted on 12/8/18 at 4:41 pm to RollTide1987
You graded the recent MCU films then commentated about the lack of innovation (incorrect btw)
Then you graded the (vastly inferior) DCEU films on the same scale without mentioning a word about innovation, citing personal preference.
So yeah you moved the goalposts, your preference for DC characters flaws your grades.
If you were “fair and balanced” your bias wouldn’t be so obvious.
But congrats on hijacking the thread.

Because Phase 3 hasn't been innovative at all. What did Dr. Strange do that we hadn't already seen before? What did Infinity War do that we hadn't already seen before?

You obviously can't read because I literally just said that none of the DCEU films contain a hint of innovation. None of them have been game changers for the genre and none of them will be remembered fondly by historians when people talk about this genre in the decades to come. What more do you want?
I apologize for not bringing up the fact that the DCEU wasn't innovative. I thought my grades for the films in the franchise would speak for themselves. I guess I'm going to have to pull teeth from now on when it comes to discussing film with you

What is my bias? I have literally shite on the DCEU since this whole discussion began. I apologize for not holding Phase 3 to the same lofty standard that so many of you tend to do.

If you say anything other than the MCU is pure greatness, you're automatically labeled a DC fanboy on here. It's comical.

I really have never understand why people who don’t like the MCU films or haven’t seen them come into these threads and bitch. If you don’t like them, don’t watch. It ain’t hard, I do it with plenty of movies and shows.
To say that Infinity War didn’t do anything new is just being willfully obtuse. There has NEVER been an attempt to combine so many franchises in a single movie on such a grand scale as this. Marvel was really the first and others have tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to create a shared cinematic universe. Then combining them with the original Avengers was a bold play. They mastered that and then took it to another level with Civil War, then ANOTHER step up for Infinity War (and Endgame too really).
The cast list is bonkers...huge, completely unheard of. The sheer scale, effort, money that went into it is just insane. IW is really about the villain they’ve been building for years and then the way it ended...who does that?
This could EASILY have fallen completely apart and maybe prematurely ended this run they’ve been on. But no...on the contrary, it has been a resounding success. Hats off to them for even trying imo, much less succeeding in such a huge way.
If that isn’t pushing the envelope and being innovative, I’m not sure what is in film.

Not true. The first Avengers movie did just that. All Infinity War did was take what The Avengers originally did and multiplied by a factor of five or six.

Infinity War was a good and entertaining film. That's about all I will say.
