I don't think you can really compare modern movies to old ones via tickets sold. Up until the late 70s you pretty much weren't going to have a chance to see a movie once it was out of theaters unless you were lucky enough for it to come onto TV.

+1. Which is why, IMO, Titanics run is the GOAT. It opened to 25 mil and finished over 600 mil. It was just insane.

It's 1.2 bil, and WW would be about 3.4 bil. I mentioned earlier that it's the greatest box office run, IMO.

I don't think anyone will ever top Gone With the Wind's $1,822,593,400 adjusted totals.

It made over $200M in 1939. More than Twilight in 2008, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation in 2015, Interstellar in 2014 (just a few examples).

This makes sense when you think about it, but it's still nuts.

For starters, the film had a 90 percent market share—as in, 90 percent of all people who went to the movies went to see Endgame, the largest share a movie has ever had over the course of a weekend

It needs the exact multiplier of IW to surpass the force awakens. It's going to go down to the wire. Either way Disney wins

@BoxOffice

An estimated 45% of #AvengersEndgame's $1.2 billion opening weekend gross came from 3-D ticket sales, according to @RealD3D.

I had basically forgotten about 3D

I’m assuming that includes IMAX 3D

IMAX theaters were all packed in my area.

Titanic has had two releases so that inflation number isn’t correct.

Gone with the Wind was released so many times so that figure about it making $200 million in its initial release is also incorrect.

#AvengersEndgame continues to overperform. MON finished with around $37M dropping only 59% from SUN. All past #Avengers movies fell in the 64-74% range on their first MON, same time of year. #Boxoffice cume at $394M+. Will crush $400M today in record time in only its 5th day.

China Box Office: Avengers: Endgame has earned ¥2,601M / $387M by seven days only & already surpassed the entire runs of Avengers: Infinity War, Furious 7. It will become the highest-grossing import film of all time on May.1. $535M-plus after the 2nd week. #AvengersEndgame

Every record is going down
