Endgame. Lion King and Toy Story 4 will battle it out for 2nd for the HoM. There’s a strong possibility that frozen 2 will finish ahead of episode 9 too. All will clear a billion though. We’ll see with Far from Home, Captain Carol, and Aladdin.

I’m a huge Star Wars fan. Grew up with it and I’ve seen every movie in the theater. Some more than once and all on opening weekend. Except for Solo. I hated TLJ that much. I will not see episode 9 in theaters unless audience reviews are above 90% and this board is gushing over it.
IW was great. Saw it twice in theaters and again on Netflix. I’ll see Endgame opening weekend and probably more than once if it’s good.
So I think Marvel will win this war.

I’m on a 3 month ban bet with Roaad that Episode IX doesn’t gross more than a billion, so that should say all that needs to be said.
That's an insane bet on your part.

Why do people think this will be such a hit? I never heard of the character until the movie was announced, Brie Larsen is not a box office draw or even a leading lady, and there has to be some MCU fatigue at some point.

TLJ destroyed a lot of trust amongst the Star Wars fanbase and it will be extremely hard to get it back.
For a lot of fans, that ship has sailed. It's about more than TLJ for them.

Nope, saw a report this weekend that it's trending for a 160 million opening weekend.

People called me insane as well when I said Solo would bomb. I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is.

I've given you props on that one. But 1 billion for Ep 9 should be pretty easy to hit.
Posted on 2/4/19 at 5:41 pm to OMLandshark
That's because you said it would have a $70 million opening weekend.

Didn't you say that Aquaman will never sniff a billion?

Dude, it’s Star Wars. Only 600 million for the film that reintroduces Luke fricking Skywalker should be viewed as a colossal failure.
Truer words have never been spoken.

Yeah you made a fool’s bet. It will hit a billion WW. Adjusted for inflation even the prequels easily made a billion.

It should be, but they told the entire fan base to go frick themselves and that they’re all a bunch of racist, sexist homophobes, so they’re not all that interested in watching this.
Plus I have no idea where things stand and why I should care what happens next. With the Avengers I know where things stand and am excited where they can take it, even if I don’t have a clue where they’re going to take it. The First Order and the Resistance basically wiped each other out as far as I’m concerned.

Right? There has to be some sort of time significant time jump (hopefully back in time) to have any sort of major conflict. Maybe they go nuts and bring in the Grysk (yuuzhan vong) and Chiss?

I understood the prequels. I didn't think the tale was particularly epic, but I understood it.
With the sequels, I'm confused, and not really interested at this point. They carry nothing from the story I loved, and furthermore, they insult that story.

How strange. I am receiving images of something amazing coming towards us - travelling over decades through space and time - reaching out to all humans on this planet with its message. What could it be? Should I be afraid? Should you? Stay tuned.
Rumors we're getting the name of Ep 9 tomorrow

I don’t remember saying that, but I certainly thought it. I never thought it’d outgross Wonder Woman. I’m not always right.
