Forgot all about Soul. Doesn’t really look that interesting anyways.

Good solid Pixar effort. Not as good as Inside Out (directed by same person and my favorite Pixar movie), took me bit to get into it, the last 30 minutes or so are the best part of movie.

Soul, Saints and then playing my new Xbox. Wonder Woman is bottom of the list now that west wing is on HBO max.

I'm going to watch Soul tonight with my nieces and nephews. WW84 is being shredded on social media right now. Curious to see your guys reaction to it.

I agree it was a solid effort. I enjoyed Soul more than Inside Out personally, but that probably has more to do with me being a fairly unemotional male, raising two boys. There were a lot of things that rang pretty hollow for IO that probably resonated more with others. Enjoying life and realizing the beauty of the world in the every day is more relatable and that’s what soul was going for. Both are some interesting existential themes for a cartoon.

Out of the two Pixar movies this year, I liked Onward more, but that’s probably a personal preference as opposed to a better movie.

Agree with this, I like Onward better but Soul is probably a better movie.

I thought Onward was much better. Spoilers ahead.

Soul needed half an hour to explain its premise. Onward was done with explanations in about ten minutes and spent the rest of that "meta" time worldbuilding.

Onward had a much better end goal and twist, too. It would've been cliché to have Joe's spark end up being something other than music (teaching being the obvious choice--they hinted at it several times), but I think that a clichéd ending would have been way better than Joe just being like "I don't know what I'm gonna do LOL." And the mid-film body mixup just... didn't work for me. Narrative was too disjointed. It could've been two or three wonderful short films. Beautiful film to look at though.

Soul was a good movie but I wouldn't rank it among classic Pixar, and of its two 2020 offerings, I strongly preferred Onward.

Just finished Soul. It was good overall. Solid 7. Kinda dragged in the middle, but the ending was strong.

In the Pixar power rankings I’d put it about on the level of A Bug’s Life or Cars. Middle of the pack but still good. And holy shite Pixar’s animation quality has peaked. Some of those shots of NYC looked photorealistic.

Gonna watch WW84 next
