As I've gotten older, Mox has become more of the villain to me. Mox wouldn't pay attention during the games and even arranged an all-night strip club binder for half of the starters which cost them a game when a district title was on the line. He set out to steal Lance's girlfriend and cheat on his sister only to wuss out after making his brother buy him condoms. He would screw up practices by running the wrong offense for the scout team. Hell, when he came in after Lance's injury, he called his own number for the winning touchdown. What self-centered prick does that?Yeah, Kilmer was a dick for threatening to change his grades but other than that, he had every right to be all over his arse.

Kilmer might be an arse, but Mox is also a douchebag. Also, Bobby Bowden never gets enough flack for not following through with the scholarship offer for Lance.

I have to say, after reading this, I agree with you 100%. Damn, Mox?!?

Truth. That was a bush league move.

Oh, and if Wendell was really that good of a RB, believe me...those major college scouts would have found him...regardless if Kilmer had done anything to help his recruitment. I mean, come on. You don't think those FSU scouts that recruited Lance wouldn't be all like "maybe we should take a look at this Tailback."??

On that note, one thing that always bothered me was the fact that Billy Bob passes out from a concussion, allows his QB to be sacked, then is back on the line next play when Mox comes in. Really? You pass out, and dont get pulled out of the game?

Kilmer made him play with one. Wouldn't surprise me if he told him to get back out there.

I was always confused by the fact that Kilmer had been coaching there forever and had 2 state titles.

What kind of coach has a STATUE of himself and only 2 state titles in that long arse amount of time coaching?

He had like 30 conference titles or something like that too.

Yep. Mox is basically a white version of Willie Beamen.

There are a few who have gone on to assistant/position jobs in college, but most are never as well known as they were at high school. Like Alan Weddell parlayed his 4a dominance at La Marque into a position coach job at A&M, but that was as high as he made it.

Gordon Wood is the prototype of the legendary rural Texas High School football coach who just kept wining and winning and never had any interest in any other level. But he won 9 state championships, a little better than ol' Bud Kilmer.
