re: Anyone in the Star Wars:TFA was really disappointing category?

I was really pissed that they had to fight ANOTHER death star type weapon and they even attacked the damn thing in similar fashion. I was hoping the plot would focus more on force sensitive people awakening with kylo and the first order hunting them down throughout the galaxy. I didn't mind the homage to the original but i didn't want to see a remake of a new hope

At what point between Empire and ROTJ does Luke even become this powerful jedi?
Good point. I think most people always mix up that Luke only goes back to Dogobah after suddenly becoming this master.
How did that happen? Last we saw him in the ESB, he was f-ed up with 1 hand.

I mentioned in another post that my biggest complaint was the Star Killer base. It was cool as shite if it wasn't something we had seen twice already.

It was pretty absurd. As if the other two weren't big enough?
They didn't do a perfectly good job of completely blowing planets up?

It's a flawed film bit "disappointing" is too strong a word for me. There were things I liked about the movie, some I didn't. I'd rank it solidly in between the two previous trilogies. Glad to have more Star Wars.

Yeah but this one blows up multiple planets at once!

Just wait till Starkiller II become operational.

Why did the Death Star have enough power to blow up a planet with whatever tech it used, but Starkiller has to use a fricking sun?
And wouldn't that change the gravity of everything?
IMO that's one of the most unforgivable sins of this movie.
Not to mention the cost of converting a planet into a weapon.

I got it! It's like two birds with one stone.
Kills a sun and then kills a shite ton of planets.
But wait, killing the sun would kill everyone and everything else right?
I'll admit it, that thing is starting to piss me off now. More Kylo killing around the galaxy, searching for Luke would have sufficed.

The Death Star had limited range, they had to be close enough to the target planet, maybe this needs something else to give it more power to reach a traget anywhere. I'm also not a fan of this part of the story line.

not an astro physicist by any means so i'm not sure about the gravity, i thought the moon was the biggest factor on that, but i'd think draining the energy from the sun completely would freeze the planets over.

cost is no object to really any government but especially a totalitarian fascist regime. They can tax, steal (redundant) or print enough money to cover it. I can give you the other ones, but not this

What about when Han and Leia walk out onto the surface of an asteroid with just an oxygen mask in Empire? Or when Han says he made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs when parsecs is a measurement of distance not time. Or building a new Death Star in the time between ANH and Empire?
Those are pretty lame nitpicks that fall in the same category as yours.

it is between Star Wars and Jedi as far as we know. The much lamer point is that they started building it at the end of Sith and didn't finish for 20 years. Unless Massachusetts is running ths boon doggle, that's just stupid.

You are right my bad, I misspoke. The point remains the same. It's still an unrealistic timeline.

Why is that? For 1 we really don't know when they started they could have been planning on building a 2nd one all along. but i think it is safe to assume sometime after the first one blew up. According to most timelines, there are 3 years between the end of Star Wars (Battle of Yavin) and the start of Empire (Battle of Hoth) and another year between the end of Empire and beginning of Jedi. Somewhere from 3-4 years to start building it and making it operational (it is not finished) is not nearly as unrealistic as taking 18 years to build it

They don't really say they started building it at the end of the Sith. They just had the plans for it. No idea when they started it. The second one may have been under construction during ANH and ESB, they don't really say when they started building it. Contact machine theory, while build one when you can charge twice as much and build two and keep the other secret.
Well unless some of the canon cartoons/comics spell this out, don't know about that.

yes they do, well they don't say it, they show it under construction at the end of ROTS

I guess there isn't really a real life precedent for building a Death Star to use as a reference.

My biggest issue with the film. It just blows my mind that they couldn't come up with anything more original. I mean this is now the third death star that's been destroyed. When will the bad guys realize these things don't work well

Ah, I totally forgot they showed that part. I just remember Anakin getting the plans.

Honestly he gave me more then I expected. There are a lot of subtle things in TFA that can become pretty decent story lines.
