Original post came off harsher than it needed to. So edited it. I am usually not combative.

The definition of an average movie goer is pretty subjective. A lot of people go to the movies. Different segments like different types of movies so its hard to 'average' it out.

But for the most part, really bad movies bomb at the box office. You always have the outliers on either side.

Going into seeing this movie for the first time I thought it would JUST be a comedy. Oh was I wrong It was actually a serious/graphic movie. That being said I enjoyed it.

Yeah, but on here, it's "anyone who isn't as 'smart' as we are."

It's not at all uncommon for a movie to bomb at the box office only to be thought of in high regard in the following decades.

Some of the best movies ever have been box office flops. I'm one that firmly believes you should never use box office to determine the quality of a film or whether or not you should even watch it.

I thought Kickass was terrible. I lost interest midway through. Plus I have a personal hatred for little kids (or women) in movies who can just beat everyone up with no problem.

It was an okay movie. I read the comic before seeing it though, and the comic had much more violence, nudity, and had a much more realistic ending.

My friends Five year old (when she was four) took this DVD to her room bu mistake (it was in an "Ice Age" case) She watched it, and to this day she asks for a butterfly knife everytime I see her. She wants to grow up to be 'Hitgirl', glad my kids favorite movie isn't a title they can't even say without getting punished.

One of Nic Cage's best performances in recent years. Big Daddy and Hit Girl's story was the best part of the movie. I really didn't care about Kick arse and his friends.

I thought it was a lot of fun and the over the top style worked with Cage because that is his normal state of being.

Moretz was great. I had such shitty expectations for that movie.

Awesome movie. Batman: "I only shot you with halfloads", Hitgirl: "your the best dad ever"

They did a horrible job marketing this. Based on the previews I had no interest in seeing what I thought was a hokey movie. Recently saw it on Netflix after great reviews and it was not at all what I expected.

You're laughing, but it's probably true. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that a collection of people that actively seek out discussion about films are smarter, more well-informed, and more discerning in their taste for movies than the average movie goer.

Just by the nature of the board, the people here care more about movies than the average movie goer, so it stands to reason that the opinions of this board should be held in higher esteem when judging a movies quality than merely looking at box office receipts.

Hit girl is great. I'd watch Part 2, considering I've seen Kick arse about 6 times and loved it more each time.
