Coming from someone who isn’t a big fan of the 2 leads, it was great and I would like to see it again.
I am a big fan of the stage show and I enjoyed the movie a lot. It is a near perfect adaptation of act one of the play. I was skeptical about Ariana Grande being able to fill Kristin Chenoweth's shoes, but she was definitely up the task. In fact, she may have been my favorite part of the film. She sings beautifully and her comedic timing is excellent. I knew that Cynthia Erivo would be good because she has her roots in musical theater.

Some people have penises. Others have vaginas.

Neither of these leads hold a candle to those two in terms of talent.
Cynthia Erivo is a massive, tony award winning Broadway actress with an incredible voice who's proven to be a great on-screen actress as well.
She probably won't sing the Wicked songs as well as Idina Menzel, but she can absolutely hold a candle to Menzel's talent.

I had responded to you on the other Wicked thread but I think we might have seen the same showing. The movie was great. My daughter wants to go again so we probably will.

frick no dude, even if my wife said it’s the greatest movie ever and put it on in 3 months when it’s out, I’d just go to bed
Me saying that has nothing to do with woke or casting, I’m just not fricking interested

It’s ok to be comfortable in your sexuality. I promise no one is going to think you’re gay if you don’t immediately say how dumb you think this movie is going to be.

Thankfully I wasn’t forced to go watch this. I’m not a huge fan of musicals to begin with.
But I guarantee you there are tons of women out there (and some men I suppose) that will go and watch this. Some multiple times. Had a lady in the office go CRAZY acting like it was the greatest movie she’s ever watched. She said lots of the women in the theater were singing along and borderline crying (

I tight it was nice they gave India and Kristen a rule in the movie.
Was near letting them have a song.

But you will likely watch at least 5 videos about the movie without actually watching the movie though to form your opinion.

Wearing your clever cap today, I see.
I've watched zero vids on Wicked because I don't care about Wicked.
When have I ever claimed to be a Wicked fan? Like literally everyone, I watched TWOZ, but hell, that's where my interest ends.

FWIW, I'm hearing the movie is a well-received adaptation of the stage play.
So, unlike Snow White, this is getting positive reviews.
Sorry to disappoint.

I didn’t have “get in a debate over Broadway actresses” on my weekend bingo card so I’ll just say enjoy the show.

quote:Hell no. Everything that stupid fricking Target commercial with it or the film's actual ad pop up I turn that crap off. I saw the musical. Completely underwhelming. Boring in fact.

Except for the one you posted about a few weeks ago when you mistakenly thought Wicked was a disney property.

That wasn’t so much about the movie but the actress who went psycho over a fan made (not official) poster which only meant to honor the original stage version poster.

That would be correct. ...and that movie was also woke shart.

Not gonna lie, thought this was something of a prequel to Maze Runner, being about the sleazy virus making corporation “Wicked”
Posted on 11/24/24 at 7:09 pm to moontigr
I absolutely can't wait to not see it
Posted on 11/24/24 at 8:12 pm to moontigr
All I heard is that it's a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and shows the background histories of the different characters (the witches, Scarecow, Tin Man, Lion, etc.) and how the Wicked Witch of the West really wasn't wicked at all

So I think I'm good
