think I've settled on the most likely scenario being John Ramsey had been molesting his daughter over a period of time, but in a weird grooming kind of way. Probably why he kept the weird sexual type pagaent type photos of her in his office and stuff. He was afraid their secret was going to get out and his only option was to murder her before she slipped and told everyone. So he staged and planned the whole thing. Then he got lucky the PD fricked up big time with the crime scene, etc.

me: If you are the father of a child that a note your wife finds says the child has been kidnapped, how on earth did he not search the entire house several times looking for her?
Because the note said she’d been kidnapped; not killed and left somewhere in the house.
I don’t know how I would act in that situation, so I try not to second guess the actions of people that are actually in that situation. I’m faced with my daughter is missing and a ransome note says she’s been kidnapped; I have no clue how I would react, none. But I doubt it would be let’s search the house in case the kidnapping was bungled.

But, that ransom note screams that the Ramseys had something to do with it
Yea, she wrote/composed that letter.
The father was also a real creep. The photos of Jon Bonet in the office as well as him lying under oath about frequenting an adult book store, is telling.
Something was sinister there. Unfortunately, it will die with him.

Really? You wouldn't do a thorough search of your house if you woke up to a note that said your daughter was kidnapped? You would just stay in the kitchen or living room with your wife and panic?
The very first thing I would do would be a search of the house. I would be looking deep into closets, under beds, etc. A six year old is a very small child and could be hidden in a bunch of places....and I would have looked in all of them, no question.

You are missing my point. I have no clue how I would react in that situation; I might just collapse in a panic in a heap on the floor. Thankfully, you nor I have been in that situation and God willing we never will be. Just thinking about my daughter kidnapped and killed makes me sick. Who knows? Maybe I’d be like you and turn into the Dad from the Taken movies, but I’m not naive enough to believe that would be the case. So, I tend not to judge the actions of people that have faced the aftermath of losing a child.

My theory is the parents (sickos) were pimping her out to pedophiles to cover the costs of all her pageants. One of them snapped, killed the girl, and the parents covered it up to not incriminate thenselves for their role.

JFC I hope you two are never on a jury.

Isn’t it strange if it was an outside intruder to break into the house.. only kill the little girl and not take anything. Except write a long random random letter for a girl you’d killed?
It’s so random . Like why would anyone do that?
Why not kill everyone in the house then? If you’ve killed the innocent little girl what’s the difference
It's pretty easy to get why a potential killer could have done it that way.
A serial pedo who accidentally killed her likely wouldn't want to kill everyone else creating an even bigger crime and more potential evidence that could get them caught. The ransom letter could easily be the killer creating a distraction so they have more time to get as far away from Boulder as possible.

FWIW, I also hope I'm never on a jury.

I don’t think he’s insinuating at all that he’d turn into Liam Neeson. But at an absolute minimum I think any reasonable parent would immediately turn the house upside down looking for their kid (or clues, evidence, whatever). Even if you’re distraught (which is obvious) you’d still feel the need to look in the house IMO.

And I've been waiting for my day to be called in for a murder trial!

reasonable parent
Again, I steadfastly believe that “reason” flies out the window when one is faced with the death of a child. You can say, I’m a “reasonable parent” and I’d do this and I’d never do that; but you nor I know what we’d do. I pray to God we’ll never find ourselves in this situation. Let’s all just be thankful our kids are safe and let us not cast stones and judgement towards those who may be suffering from the worst pain life affords.

Yes, we’re all glad we haven’t gone through that. We’ve gotten that out of the way. So stop grandstanding and dodging for two seconds and think through logical steps if that were to happen. I assume one of those steps would be “check the house for anything that could help” instead of just sitting in one spot waiting for someone else (like the police) to do it.

Still believe the brother did it and the family covered it up

Obviously the motive was sexual and not a burglary or family annihilation. And again, most people are saying "why the ransom note? It doesn't make sense." You are applying logic to an individual that broke in and molested and killed a 6 year old child. Who knows why he would write it? Maybe he got his jollies thinking this note would give false hope to the family. Maybe he had just watched Speed. Maybe he thought the misdirection of a ransom not would prolong the time before she was found and make sure he was long gone.

I don't even know this is still up for debate. It's very obvious that the creepy brother did it and the parents were covering up for him.

Watch the documentary. It was not the Ramsey’s even though the media fed us this. That is all discussed in the documentary. The guy admitted to it and to being in the home from 5 pm until they came home around 10 pm. He said he walked around and went in the parents room. The bonus check was laying out in view bc he had just received it. The killer had to have seen it and that stuck in his mind for the letter. He even talks about why he wrote the letter. They let him go bc of the DNA not matching but it was botched. So it’s not going to match.
I agree. I think it was that pedo that admitted to it. The DNA was tainted somehow. I initially thought it was the parents or brother until watching the documentary. Two things still bother me. The ransom which he explains writing, but also as a parent, how do you not look all throughout your home or know if you fixed a window that was broken? Just odd.

Patsy was cleaning the kitchen, and the husband was looking through his mail when the cops arrived. Doesn't that seem odd? How many mothers and fathers would be together showing emotion that their child was missing? I'd say the percentage would be pretty high, but those 2 showed absolutely nothing. Someone inside that house did it, the police and crime scene work was poor, to say the least. The child rapist theory does not add up, due to the lack of physical evidence of entry into the house.
