Those movies are like the opposite of interesting to me.

Talia would have been the BEST villain for this outside of maybe Strange and Black Mask.

Why would she be the best? What is your reasoning? A revenge plot to finish out the trilogy would be silly and cliche. Die Hard With a Vengeance anyone?

A jewel thief? In a setting that is dominated by organized crime and the criminally insane? She doesn't fit.

Who is to say she will be used as a jewel thief and who is to say that she will be used as a true villain? Nolan could go with the more modern interpretation of the character as something of an anti-hero.

Almost exactly what I was going to post.

I get that some of you are freaking out based on Spiderman 3, Xmen 3, etc... but shite. This is Nolan and not McG or a studio controlled Raimi.

Calm down

I'm somewhat glad that Talia al Ghul isn't one of the villains. It shows that Nolan has seemingly more creative juice inside of him as he's not settling for the simple revenge plot that would have been offered by putting Talia into the third movie.

There's an unaccounted for female character, and its certainly not Poison Ivy.

My favorite Hathaway role was Agent 99 in Get Smart. Dead on perfect for that part as was Steve Carell as Maxwell Smart.

Catwoman, in my opinion, is the perfect character for the third and final act just based on what happened in The Dark Knight. Selina Kyle provides Bruce Wayne that emotional connection that he has been missing since Rachel was blown away. She has a similar past to Wayne's and they both take their anger out in similar ways.

There are a bunch of different ways you can take the character of Selina Kyle/Catwoman. She most definitely doesn't have to be that femme fatale/jewel thief character that many of you are so afraid that she will become.

#1 - The R'as Al Ghul/Begins connection
#2 - She's as smart, if not smarter, than Batman
#3 - She's rich and powerful, She heads up the League of Shadows at some point....bring them back, in a more political form, that's where it could have gone.
#4 - She is Batman's greatest love interest, and surpassed Catwoman in the 90's
#5 - She has his kid

So wait, revenge is cliche', but a jewel thief isn't? A sexy, leather loving woman? You mean THOSE are original?

Catoman anyone? Elektra anyone? X-Men anyone? Entrapment anyone? Aeon Flux anyone?

You better described Talia than Catwoman.

Right Selina Kyle is ok for the movie, CATWOMAN isn't.

If you aren't going to have the female be a thief or be "Catwoman" in some respects, I would be using Kyle. There are plenty of other woman to use. You set certain expectations and you will have to fulfill them.

A crime-fighting woman would NEVER work in Nolan's world. Ever. It seems way too forced.

It doesn't even have to be revenge. Ra's didn't really want to kill Batman, he wanted him to be his successor and she's well aware why Batman would have killed him. If she sees eye-to-eye with her father in this world, there shouldn't be that much resentment between the two characters.

Are you this dense or are you just ignoring what I'm saying? You think that the natural progression of the story is to introduce Talia al Ghul and re-introduce the League of Shadows. Why? The trilogy can be ended in any number of ways.

Why does Catwoman need to be a jewel thief in your eyes?

Yeah...the whole dropping a log on Bruce Wayne inside Wayne Manor and leaving him in there to die was not an attempt to kill him at all.

When Ra's Al Ghul said "No one comes out. Make sure" to his henchman with the sub-machine gun in his hands, he didn't mean people at all.

That's like asking why the Joker needs to be a clown.

In "Batman Returns" Catwoman wasn't a jewel thief and many people regard that performance to be the definitive on-screen one.

I see where you're coming from here but I really think you're going a little too far with the idea of "realistic" in the Nolan universe.

Is Nolans Batman a more realistic version? Yes. That being said, we've still gotten an assasin ninja clan, a coin flipping Two Face, a pyschotic clown, and of course a vigilante dressed as a Bat. A female vigilante dressed as a Cat is not a stretch.

He didn't want to kill Batman. He was there to offer him one last chance, and if he refused (which he did) take him out.

What we know at this point:

They were looking to cast two female roles: one a love interest, and the other an antagonist.

Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle. Based on the casting alone, I'd say she's the "love interest." No mention of Catwoman in the press release. Although, it's logical to assume that Catwoman will appear at some point in the movie. If not, why make the love interest Selina Kyle? They could have used Vicki Vale, Julie Madison, Silver St. Cloud, etc.

Still no word on the other female role, but based on some of the rumors out there about who they were looking at (Naomi Watts, Vera Farmiga, etc.) it's more likely that this will be the antagonist character (which is assumed, though not confirmed to be Talia).

The jury's still out on Hathaway, but she can't be any worse than Katie Holmes or Maggie Gyllanhall.

Tom Hardy as Bane makes me think that they're not going to use the "Prey" storyline. Weren't most of us assuming he was going to be Hugo Strange?

He wasn't there to offer him anything. He came there for the expressed purpose of killing him. Why do you think the ninja jumped down from the ceiling when Ra's Al Ghul walked Wayne into the hall way? Re-watch that monologue all the way through. Never in his speech did Ra's offer Wayne a chance at redemption.
