My 12 year old is interested in anime. What is a good series to start him on and where to stream?

Also, Is DBZ available to stream?

Get the Funimation app. It has DBZ and lots of other stuff. Dragon Ball Super currently has a bunch of episodes on YoutubeTV as well. Netflix has a bunch of good anime depending on how strict you are. One Punch Man, Naruto, Death Note, Bleach, and Jojo are all good places to start.

I’ve been watching a fair amount of anime during covid.

I always watched just enough to not be a normie, but not enough to connect with weebs. Over the past year, I watched all or significant amounts of Inuyasha, Outlaw Star, Full Metal Alchemist, Yugioh Abridged, Naruto, Food Wars, High School dxd, etc.

I just have to say that Naruto sucks. He’s such an awful annoying character that I don’t think I can stick with this show long enough for it to “get good”.

Naruto is on Netflix and is pretty kid friendly. There’s also not very many busty women walking around compared to other animes

Get funimation but Netflix has one piece.

Id say for a 12 year he could do the following;

Naruto
One Piece (literally has over 950 episodes)
Hunter X Hunter(contains some intense stuff)
Dragon Ball Z
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (contains some intense stuff)

Any shounen series really. He might be a LITTLE too young for some things but he could enjoy those.

Intense is putting it lightly. It gets crazy.

The best one that's currently running for a 12 year old, imo, is My Hero Academia. It's the perfect show for that age group. Great show, great animation, easy to follow, nothing you have to worry about sexually, violence isn't over the top, just a great show. And it's on HULU.

True but it's confusing because the main character is about 12... but it absolutely has some dark parts to it. Japanese kids don't get the filters like American kids.

Love this anime. Pissed HBOMax only goes through the first half or so of the chimera ant arc

I've been wanting a season 7 of Hunter, but it may never happen. The source manga still hasn't been completed after all these years and even that is still up in the air.

Currently watching the last (we will see) season of Attack on Titan, along with whatever reruns come on the streaming app.

Yeah because the mangaka has mental health issues. He said his wife, who is the creator of sailor moon, would finish it if anything happened to him.

Man I have been on a serious anime rush lately. Shows I either rewatched or finished for the first time in just the last month alone;

Senko the Helpful Fox
Uzaki-chan Just Wants to Hang Out
BOFURI: Max out Defense to Avoid Getting Hurt
Devil Is A Part-Timer
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
Shimoneta: World Without Dirty Jokes
Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Showed up to the Starter Town
Rising of the Shield Hero

The Funimation app has been worth it for me this far. I have re:Zero, Tanya the Evil, and How Heavy are the Dumbbells you Lift queued up as well.

You watch your fricking mouth. If you’re not hooked after the chuunin exams idk what to tell you. Naruto, especially Shippuuden is GOAT
