Old Major is modeled after Karl Marx with a little Lenin thrown in. The other characters are modeled after people in early 1900s Russia from Nicholas II to Stalin, to the Russian citizens who fled to other countries after the revolution. It is 100% about communism

Communism is the vehicle, yes, but not the destination. Capitalism is blamed just as much in the novel (represented by the bad farmers). Orwell even wrote an essay called "Why I Write" in which he said that every word he writes is against totalitarianism. He was a democratic socialist, so he blamed both ends of the spectrum equally. He was, however, specifically anti-Stalinist.

The CIA pushed subtle changes to the story. Old Major, for instance, is modeled after Churchill in the film. His overthrow represents the rise of communist sympathies in Western Europe. The ending of the film is significantly different. The book puts the capitalist farmers and the communist pigs under the same totalitarian umbrella (playing, and cheating at, cards). The CIA added the animal revolt at the end of the film showing that communist leaders should be overthrown by the people that they duped. They also made sure to differentiate between the good farmers (capitalists) and bad farmers (dictators).

1984 is anti totalitarian
Animal Farm is a metaphor for the Soviet Union and Russian (Communist) revolution and the horrors it wrought

Man this is going to suck. Subversion of the original story to meet a political agenda; DEI good. Ironic.

Man hearing Seth Rogen voice a character from on a book that's an allegory for the Russian revolution and Stalinism is truly something else

FWIW sounds like the movie has been dumbed down to be a bad kids movie.

Laugh but that's pretty much what happened. The CIA financed the 1954 movie and altered the ending from the book in order to align with more anti communism.

You are aware that Orwell was a democratic socialist right? He hated the Soviets but was absolutely not a fan of capitalism

They will not have his perspective but a modern spin on their beliefs.

Being rich doesn't mean it's just going to slam capitalism. But from the few reviews I've seen it looks like it won't even be a good movie. At best a watered down take on the book because for some reason it needed to be made for kids

Let's make an allegory about the Russian revolution & communism a COMEDY, right? That looks totally book accurate!
