I’m not sure I can watch this. I hate all these assholes like him, but that dude makes me irrationally angry. I want to jump through the tv and beat him to fricking death with my bare hands like 3 seconds into every interview I’ve ever seen of him.

There's body cam footage where he's with the cops searching the house and acting worried, knowing full well what he did. He's a piece of shite.

I haven’t watched it. Have listened to several pods that included interviews with their friends and Chris Watts mistress. All of them talked about not knowing how the hell that family could support their lifestyle, largely on Shannans part. He was an operator, she sold health products in a MLM Facebook scheme, yet they lived like millionaires.
Dude is obviously scum and had a dark side beforehand, but as far as motive, I think he was a bit of a simp when he got involved with Shanann and realized they were wrecked financially and didn’t have an out.
I’ll check out the doc though. The pods had a lot of details I had never heard.

Amazingly all her Facebook posts are still up. Seen a couple people repost them and it’s creepy as hell.

Nothing in the show hints at much excessive spending like that. They lived in a new development bt denver and greeley. Good house but very manageable for what they did, $400k max. Nice vehicles but loans like most people Im sure. No crazy toys.
Biggest factor: Like any man, dreaded the thought of losing half his shite.

No they didn’t. That house she built, she was making good money. He was an operator. He’s bringing in six figures. Those houses are par for the course in Colorado and now run 400k up. They were established and bought in before the 2018 boom. They probably paid less than 400k and weren’t living outside their means. Both of them were making good money.

Less than three years before the murder, the couple filed for bankruptcy. This was while they were living in that house. Records showed the couple combined to make 90k annually, with Chris making $60k/year. The couple had less than $1k total in bank accounts provided to the court. The couple had $70k in credit card and loan debt.
When the couple originally bought the house in 2013, the mortgage was only in Chris’ name. The couple lived with a friend for 2 months to save up money for a down payment. Honest question, is it normal to get approved for a $400k mortgage on a $60k salary? Sounds like a lender taking advantage of a couple that was not good with finances.
None of that changes the fact that this guy should be dead right now. And maybe Shananns new gig was so good that they got out of the hole they dug. But if you are making a documentary about the events leading up to the murder, their financial situation is probably at least part of it

Keep in mind that these texts were released by her family. It's a pretty safe bet that there were others that were worse than what they picked out for the documentary.

I haven't seen this but I saw a pretty in depth special on ID or whatever channel it was. I hadn't heard the stuff about Shannan. What all kind of stuff was she texting and facebooking?

She worked for a MLM company, so she was constantly posting videos of her and her family, and she complained about her husband, at times, to her "followers".
The texts were to a friend complaining that her husband refused to have sex with her ("frick" her is the term she used) and she suspected he was having an affair (he was).
