They just cut out what was probably one of the most important parts of the movie....right?

Why did Amazon even make this version available? The abridged version practically destroys the point of the movie.

I’m not offended but I do think it is really really dumb to take out the most important part of a film to save 15 minutes. It doesn’t make sense without that part.

I only know I'd be pissed if I accidentally clicked on the abridged version unknowingly, got all the way to that part of the movie, and it jumped ahead like it does.

They didn’t create this version. Maybe they included it since it’s been available for a long time and people may prefer that version? I don’t know.

The internet has made the entire world dumber. Just look at all the piggybacking on Amazon destroyed IAWL. Doesn’t matter if it’s true, still going to believe it and comment.

I’m offended when it takes away the most important part of the movie. If you just saw that version of the movie, you’d assume that Clarence just happens to have $8,000 on him that he gives to George, and then George is a giant dick by taking all of his neighbors cash when he already has that cash.

It’s not good or heartwarming at all with that being the premise. The entire first act is setting up who George is and his predicaments, the second act is the Pottersville alternate reality where George never existed, and the third is him realizing he had a wonderful life. That’s just Underpants Gnomes bullshite when you remove the entire second act:

Why have an "abridged" version of a classic film in the first place?

On top of that, why would the abridged version cut out probably the most important entire scene in the film instead of just excising little "unnecessary" shots here and there

Did you read the OP?

Half the responses here and news outlets are stating Amazon created this version purposely.

All you did was shift to why did Amazon have this version available too?

Do you realize how many books and movies have abridged versions? The answer is almost every single one

Where they remove the entire second act and the climax? The fact that some of yall are defending this is ridiculous.

I want to say I’ve seen the abridged version on TV at some point. When it was one of those “movie has been edited for run time” deals.

OK, then I’m going to release my own edited version of the Wizard of Oz where I just cut out all the Oz portions. Just the farm, getting swooped up by the tornado, and then Dorothy wakes up saying that there’s no place like home. You wouldn’t be confused if you’d never seen the unedited version of it, would you?

If someone is too stupid to not choose the other options they deserve to be confused for life and lose the right to vote

As stated above, the reason for the abridged version was possibly to avoid a rights battle with a short story that had been published prior to the film's production. Amazon Prime is in the content business, so this is one more version of a film which they can use to pad their inventory.

We're talking about a film that has fallen in and out of public domain, was run to death by local stations around the U.S., with each station editing it down to fit their individual programming schedules.

If you're opposed to abridged films, then don't watch them.

Apparently OML has been on this crusade for 20 years - I mean 2 days - to stop Amazon, oops not Amazon, but whomever, from making abridged versions he isn’t forced to watch.

Btw, I have no interest in watching this version, but holy shite to the misinformation and sky screaming in here.

I’ve seen abridged versions of Star Wars movies that were much better than the originals.
