Haven't watched the last episode yet, thanks for the spoilers, lol jk

But why were people dropping so fast in Mongolia you think compared to previous seasons? I only watched season 1 and just parts of the others, but seems like the winners were there 50+ days in each.

I didn't like this season as much. Felt like too much dead air time or people talking directly into the camera.

I started to wonder if Sam won about half-way thru because he was never on TV. Assumed it meant he either won or finished near the top and they'd be showing him later in the season alot.

I think the fact that these people had already participated in the challenge before made it easier for them to tap out. Some of them probably felt that there were some that could go 90+ days (not realizing everyone was tapping) and decided they didn't want to get to that point.

Once the cold weather hit and the food ran out was when the tap-outs started speeding up that were not injury related.

I think the producers are purposely trying to find locations that will speed up the tap-outs to end production. I imagine every day the support crew is out there is pricey and they don't want to run 90+ days.

The lengthy commercials is what drives me nuts.

Now that they have done the redemption thing, I want them to get back to casting a new group of people and go some where else.

I was rooting for Britt but I think that’s just because he got more screen time during the season. Sam was impressive because he did so bad at catching food. It seemed to be just an exercise in sheer will for him. Happy for the dude.

What did Sam eat for the last month he was there? I’m happy for him but was more impressed by Britt. Surprised Britt didn’t catch a fish or two that last 10-14 days. Would have made a big difference to him.

I can’t believe Sam won. Felt like he ate next to nothing the entire trip. Happy for him though even though I was rooting for Britt

That's why I picked Sam to win. In season 1 he ate next to nothing and still had the will power to last to 2nd place. So I figured if he even ate a little he could win which he did. What ticks me off about the show is they make the last person stay there several more days so they can fly in their wife. What if Britt had tapped out at Noon and then Sam calls in to quit at 1pm?

I think Sam would have still won. I always wondered what would happen if two participants ran across each other while out exploring. They’re only spread out 5-10 miles from each other. I mean, in theory it could happen.

They should leave the winner out there until they quit. We could tune in to the season 1 guy still out there.

Now that this season is over, here is a few questions for fun:

1.Who all would participate in the show if you could?

2.What do you think would be your biggest obstacle?

3. What one thing that other participants struggle with that you think you could handle?

Here's my answers:

1. I would do this show in a minute. Of all of the reality shows this one appears to be the most realistic and challenging as there are no camera crews following you around.

2. My biggest obstacle is age. I am in my mid-50's and I don't know if I had have the endurance. If I was 10 years younger and in a bit better shape I would apply possible if I could get the time off work.

Assuming I did participate, the biggest obstacle would be bugs. If they sent me to a place like they do on shows like "Naked and Afraid" where the insects are ridiculous I am out! I am not sure how I would handle being close to some of these predators like bears and wild cats. I say I could could handle them sitting at home but I am not sure if I was out there with no weapon.

3. The solitude. While I am a family man, I enjoy time when I have some solitude. I am quite comfortable in my own thoughts and think I could handle the loneliness better than most. One of my 10 items would have to be a very good book of something the read that would help me out there to keep my wits. While the bible is always an easy one, I may pick a large and comprehensive survival guide for reading that may give me additional ideas to gather food and shelter that I don't already possess. Reading is something I would need to keep myself together.

This for me as well. For some reason, I am a mosquito magnet. If I have 20 folks at my house sitting around the back porch, I am the one getting eaten up by those little bastards. I know certain people put out chemicals that attract them, and I'm one of them-----oh lucky me.

I'd not last long in a jungle environment with mosquitoes thick as rain.

1. Absolutely would do. 100%. After all the seasons now, you can basically expect to be gone for 3 full months. That's a summer vacation, mentally speaking. While the max limit is a year, if I plan & prepare my mind for 60-90 alone resulting in about $250k (after taxes & the groceries to get my DadBod back...), I think the game begins to be easier.

2. Locating, identifying, & storing the edible plant life. I have a very limited amount of experience in this area. But after watching every season. & seeing who is fairly successful at sustaining their nutrition; I would spend a considerable amount of time learning from the experts in the training prior to insertion. Learning how to store or even move those plants closer to my shelter to be able to keep growing them would be a priority. Being able to brew various herbal teas, stews/soups is a tremendous advantage. Especially if you are also successful with harvesting fish & game. Adding the various greens to any meat & fish is just that much better for your overall mental state & confidence throughout the game.

3. Building a significant sized shelter. I know I'm a broken record on this topic in threads on Alone. I just don't understand why they don't build shelters that are wider & taller. The mind & body need space to move around-when that cold comes in, you've got to be able to get out of your bed. Idk if there are shelter size limitations not the parks dept. in Vancouver Island or Mongolia, We've seen that the ones who have projects to keep their mind occupied tend to last longer, st least mentally. When you build a large enough shelter, you can knock out all kinds of projects both for the shelter itself & outside of it (during the tougher weather).

This was definitely a solid one. Very few initial extractions.

I REALLY want the girl who got the hook in her hand to get another Redemption season later on.

I'm really interested to see where they go from here. As big as this world is, there are only so many locations to drop 10 people in that have natural barriers & resources to make this concept work.

I guess using a tarp for a roof creates limitations on how big the shelter can be

Resources were scarce, and two were extracted early for medical reasons.

It's time for an equatorial location. The jungle is freaking brutal.

I would, but not right now since I have a newborn son at home. I couldn't handle leaving my wife alone with him at this age. Maybe in a few years once he's grown some... but I'd never be cleared medically anyway.

Bugs for sure, I know that in a place like Vancouver Island the mosquitoes had to be bad, and I am a mosquito magnet. If I could outlast them to the winter then maybe I'd have a shot. Plant life would also be a challenge since I have no experience in knowing what wild plants are edible or good for certain things. I'd have a lot to learn in that regard.

I'd like to think that big game hunting is one thing that I could probably accomplish that none of them have been able to. I could be way off, I grew up deer hunting, so maybe it's overconfidence... these guys and girls have probably almost all hunted before too.

Sam could win this season easy if he lasted as long as he did with the minimal shelter and brutal winds in Season 1.
