I have an assumption: After the Synthetic messaged her on the ship to give him control of the ship so he could pilot her to safely remotely, there was a cut back to Rain doing her thing and once we’re back with the girl on the ship, she injects herself. So I can only assume the Synthetic told her to do it offscreen or told her the properties of the vial (knowing she would probably inject herself even if he didn’t outright tell her to.) I could totally be misremembering, though.
You're misremembering. She injects before Ian Holm hits her up on the ship

They talked about it before Rain left, Kay suggested that she injects herself then Rain asks Andy if they have enough time to get her to the cryo chamber which Andy said they did

Details on Noah Hawley’s ‘ALIEN: EARTH’ series:
• Follows a group who make a fateful discovery when exploring a crashed space vessel
• Set 30 years before the first ‘Alien’ film
• Starring Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant & Alex Lawther
• Releasing on Hulu in 2025
The Olyphant casting alone has me looking forward to this.

This may be widely known but thought it was cool. Remember Robert Bobroczkyi, that super tall basketball player whose highlight tape went viral(he stands at 7’7)? He plays the offspring in this movie.

Really liked it. Only issue I really had was the time line in the movie. Felt like it went from face hugger to alien to fast.
I did not like the final thing. I liked all of the easter eggs and having a droid look like Ash was cool.

Thought I had responded to this thread back in the summer but awesome movie. Probably my favorite next to Dune 2 this year. It was basically a love letter to Alien and Aliens and they nailed the atmosphere perfectly. It was like a trip back in time. Let Fede direct the next 2-3 of these.

Watched this two nights ago. Really enjoyed it. Probably tied for 3rd with Prometheus.
I loved the setup with the impending crash into the ice rings. I was pretty much looking forward to the collision the whole movie. I bet it was awesome in the theater. The younger cast pulled it off for the most part. The more likable white brit kid was a little dull, but it wasn't too distracting. Updated Andy was one of the best parts of the movie. Great acting by that dude. Loved the AI vs human emotion theme. The human/xeno hybrid was wild, and creepy af. Good stuff.

When I think of “man-made horrors beyond your comprehension” that creature was it.

Yeah I couldn’t imagine surviving those final 30 minutes or so of the movie and then having to deal with that thing to cap it off.

Nah, it's a forgettable subpar movie at best. If it had zero ties to the Alien franchise, it would be discussed as much today as San Andreas is.

Saw this back in theaters and was really surprised this board creams their jeans over it like everyone does.
This summarizes how I felt pretty well:

Yeah, I mean, it is a movie about monster space aliens, I'm not all that bothered by suspended logic in such films. It obviously isn't a perfect movie, but it was entertaining, and exciting. If you view every horror/sci fi/fantasy movie through a rational lens like that, there won't be much that you can enjoy.

You know who could do a good Alien horror movie? And it would be mind bending as frick…
Panos Cosmatos. Feel like he could pull off an Event Horizon remake or sequel too.

I enjoyed it OK, but I don't need to watch it again. It had some good moments.
The setup and first act was interesting, but then it got lazy.
Too many rehashed ideas and plotlines, bad Ian Holm CGI, and the Ripley quote was complete cringe. Hey, instead of Bishop, let's name him Rook! Get it?
I would put it ahead of 3 and 4, and about the same as Covenant. Prometheus is slightly better. The first two are way ahead.

For an Alien movie it was pretty good. I liked the ending.

The xenomorph human hybrid thing was retarded at the end. Feel like they could've done better.

Agreed.
I always thought a missed opportunity for an Alien movie was to have it set between Alien and Aliens, at the mining colony where we ended up with the lone survivor, Newt. Seems to me every Alien movie has the humans winning and a good change would show what would happen when the Xenomorphs run loose and win.
