I also thought there was some odd timing things. I think the movie could have taken place over a longer period of time and kept up the pace and tension.

I know the movies have never been consistent but the ingestion for the Asian chick and then the deheartening was way way too quick.

I think if the movie would have played out over 36 hours, that would be even more horrifying instead of a quick 40 minutes

You see that with Star Trek too.

Decent. First 45 minutes or so were pretty strong.

Fell off big time after that

Maybe if Andy hadn’t already allowed people to die, sure. But I thought Rain had a responsibility to the other girl to see her back safe. And that obviously ended up not working out. Movie would have had a happy ending actually.

If she hadn’t gone back for Andy, they all would have ended up dying. Pretty sure part of the reason she gave birth to that monstrosity wasn’t JUST because she injected herself with the black liquid. Pretty sure the Xenomorph had already harmed her and the baby while she was glued to the wall. The black goo mixed with whatever the xeno had already done to her, hence why the baby had the look of both a xeno and an Engineer.

Plus, her going back for Andy was kind of the entire point of the story tbh. That relationship is billed as being incredibly important to Rain early on AND was part of her emotional conflict because she was going to have to leave her “brother” behind

Fun movie to see in theatre's for sure. Definitely the most "horror" title in the franchise.

While I wasn't a fan of the black matter alien liquid lore addition prometheus and covenant had I can appreciate how they brought it full circle here.

One thing pretty much each of the Alien movies had in common was the feeling that each conflict had finality by the end of each movie. Alien and Aliens with xenos blown out of an airlock and ending with hyper sleep, 3 with Ripleys death etc. It's the expanded lore in the comics that basically show it's all for naught and the company gets what it was after in the end anyways leading up to Earth War. This movie expands on what the company has knowledge of by the time Aliens rolls around and kinda adds to their desperation to get their hands on these things.

The 3rd act may jump the shark a little bit with bringing prometheus and covenant full circle, but it really didn't take away from the movie experience for me. 8 outta 10.

One of the only real questions I have that I may have missed or the movie didn't expand on was how in the frick they got that many facehuggers without a queen? I nerd out over Aliens but can't wrap my head around them getting the xeno from the Nostromo and then somehow ending up with all the meal prepped facehuggers in cryo lol

I don’t think so at all. Agree to disagree

Yeah, that's not how it works. That's the reason why the xenomorphs don't kill at will. They capture to wait for the facehuggers to implant the host. This has been seen time and time again across the franchise. She gave birth to the monstrosity because of the goo or Promethian Fire.

I thought about that too. I think Rook talks about them printing the facehuggers. If they went to retrieve the xenomorph from the Nostromo for study, one would suggest they also went to LV-452 as well. They had been studying the xenomorph for some time, to the point of distilling the goo from them. One would assume they were also about to acquire eggs and subsequently be able to print facehuggers as well. That's why they were in the lab and you saw them emerge without need of the eggs.

There wasn’t at first. That’s why I put a spoilers warning before my post

I.must have missed that line but another reviewer said that is the case. They were able to sequence the face hugger dna from the retrieved alien and molecularly print the face huggers. Or something along those lines.

Makes you wonder how the accident with romulus and remus happened in the first place. I thought they were somewhat alluding to it by the earlier scenes. About how there were so many miners dying in the mines. Perhaps they weren't dying in the mines but being taken up to the facility in space to be implanted by the face huggers. They didn't really go anywhere with that, but it might make a little sense why they were easily able to take a ship up and dock without really any resistance. Just something I was thinking about.

Saw it in imax, growing up in Orlando going on that MGM Studios ride as a kid scarred me for life when Alien comes thru the ceiling. I enjoyed the movie, could honestly watch a dystopian mining film too the sets were so cool.

Absolutely loved it. Felt dirty, oily, and claustrophobic. Aliens were badass and that monster at the end… my word.

It had that Evil Dead (2013) grind to it and I was there from start to finish. All the callbacks were fun as well.

I literally was gasping for air several times. It was so intense! Can't recommend it enough!

And Cailee Spaeny is so hot and a great actress. She was excellent as Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola's film Priscilla available on Max. I normally don't care for Sofia's films much but this one is pretty solid. She also played a boy on Devs and did well but I could tell she was a girl.

It was good and entertaining but sure did stick with the same formula:
Unsuspecting humans +1 synthetic find unknown/presumably abandoned space station/base. Alien presence slowly revealed starting with trilobite to eventual xenomorph. Heroine boss battle at the end.

Don’t forget the space doors. The timely opening and closing of space doors is an Alien movie meme.
