Oh, OK. Sure.
Yea, you might want to check the downvotes/upvotes for our two posts.
And there is zero chance I watch some video of a grown man sitting around 100 action figures with absolutely no context given. I don't sit around and watch useless youtube videos from random dorks on the internet. Maybe try and have an original thought for once and try and have a discussion/debate on your own.

**1000’s if not 10K +.

There’s always context given. That’s the point! You not liking or agreeing doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
* Wait, are you talking about the meme clip I posted above? That doesn’t need context you doofus , it speaks for itself. You blindly lap up anything that is put out and accept it because everyone else says it’s great!
It’s a joke, son, get it?
** thought you meant Gary aka Nerdrotic , not the “don’t ask questions“ guy

Ok, even worse. That is in no way a sign to tell me to watch a video in relation to The Prestige.

Speak English please. I don't know your youtube overlords and never will. Do you not see how dumb you sound when you say "blindly lap up anything because everyone says it's great" when you literally post a youtube video to try and prove a point?

I don't care for his filmmaking style at all (his editing and sound design in particular are shite
Funny. This is a big part of what I really like about his movies.

I think he's possibly the best technical director our time and love his preference of using practical effects when he can. He approaches movies like a science which I can appreciate, even if it sometimes comes across as mechanical.
My only major critique is that a lot of his dialogue and transitions feel stilted. He's especially guilty of relying on expository monologues to move the plot along or hammer home the underlying theme. He still makes some of my favorite movies and his worst movie is just as good as the "best" movies coming out recently.

To each his own. His editing feels like I'm watching a music video.

don't know that I'd go full on "over rated" but I'm not in the camp that is immediately on board with any / everything he's attached to simply because Nolan is doing it.

The Prestige is pretentious and gay.

Most folks like Armageddon, I like Deep Impact.
Similar here.

I think Inception is overrated.
But most of the rest of his movies are above average to great.
Interstellar is probably his best.
I'd vote Wes Anderson as most overrated.

I’ve said this ~100 times but I have never got this complaint. There isn’t a single Nolan film I’ve had trouble hearing. I simply think there is a biology thing that exists where some people struggle with his hearing and others dont.
I can hear it, particularly at a big arse movie theater with 50 speakers, which is what it is designed for.
But for the most part, it’s too full too often.
And if you’re watching his movies at home on a tv without 7.1 surround sound, forget it.

Some truth to this. Amazing director that would be top tier in any era, but in todays era, he is viewed as a god.

I never got the complaint until Tenet. I swear the sound for Tenet was just a loud "BAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" the entire movie. Was blowing me out of my seat at the theatre for scenes that had no business being as loud as they were. Rewatching TDKR and Dukirk after Tenet I picked up on some parts that annoyed me more than it used to.
But I'm in the minority that actually really liked Tenet and TDKR so it's not like it's some big complaint, just a complaint. He's already one of my all time favorite directors. Very few directors have ever made a run of great movies like he has.

Sometimes it’s awful. Bane’s dialogue in TDKR stands out to me. Dunkirk has insane volume issues. To be fair we did see it in IMAX but at times the gunshots in the beginning were so loud it physically hurt our ears. And other times you could barely make out what someone was saying. Interstellar had some sound issues as well from what I remember…not that it was as bad as others but sometimes it seems like Nolan just cranks up the volume as high as possible for effect without realizing what it does to everything else: it becomes a distraction rather than enhancing the scene.

The only reason Prestige isn’t the best movie of the 21st century is because Interstellar exists.
Interstellar is great, but The Prestige is the best movie on that list by a wide margin. It’s easily his best film and I’d argue it’s one of the best movies of this century. It’s that good IMO.

I don't know enough about the topic to speak definitively but I'm shocked I haven't seen James Cameron's name yet

Someone literally just did this exact thread in the last month and was roundly mocked.

I'd put Wes Anderson up there. All of his films look like some kind of pastel fever dream.
