Honestly, Fitz has turned into arguably the best character on the show. Other than Coulson, Fitz and Lincoln have the best acting chops. Fitz is also just a good guy that you want to pull for.
+1. Though the star crossed lovers angle with Fitz/Simmons does make me worried something will come btwn them again

With there now being Kree Reapers in the next episode, how long until Marvel drops the big bomb and introduces S.W.O.R.D.?

Not a comic nerd, what does this mean?

SWORD is like SHIELD but in space.
Was introduced in XMen though I believe

SWORD is run by a half-alien woman with green hair who can create fire from her hands.

So last night's episode was a let-down for me. I was hoping that it would tie-in with Civil War some, but all we got was Hive mentioning that a war between a "billionaire in a metal suit" and "a government super-soldier" was inevitable. Weak. They better make it up next week.

Until the Perlmutter/Feige feud is resolved we will only have cursory references at best.

Well the episode was pre Civil War so of course it wouldn't tie in. I also don't believe the quote you're referring to had anything to do with Ironman VS Cap, it was a shot at what regular humans are capable of.
Next week's episode will immediately follow Civil War, so it should he referenced and felt more just like after Winter Soldier.

the first tie in didn't happen until after Thor 2 came out and it was fairly limited so maybe we get something more like that than the crazy Hydra drop from the back half of season 1.

You're reaching a lot here. It 100% was a shot at the movie.
I still say i don't understand how they are supposed to defeat Hive. He seems far too powerful for anyone on this show. He can control the only people on the show that have super powers, and none of the human weapons are working at all on him. I think it's time to call in Hulk and Thor.

Granted I was probably expecting too much, but AoS directly led into the battle at the beginning of AoU by "calling in the Avengers" if I remember correctly, so it's not like it hasn't happened before.
And we'll have to agree to disagree on the Hive quote. I can't see how he could be any more obvious in referencing the film without saying "Iron Man and Captain American are about to have a Civil War...trademark."

Coulson mentioned the helicarrier's name that Fury came in on and saved the people on Sakovia in the epidosde before Ultron, but there was no way to know what he was talking about.
The writers of this show know whats going to happen in the movie. We know they've read the script, and i'd be surprised if they haven't seen the actual movie weeks ago.
I'm sure there were some things said in this episode that has something to do with the movie, we just don't know what they are yet.

That was it, so I guess I was expecting too much last night. Next week better have a sweet reference though. Although I have a hard time seeing how they will incorporate that storyline in with everything going on now with Hive.

I made this post in December:
quote:
As for anyone talking about S.H.I.E.L.D's connection to the MCU - it has been massively diminishing with each season, the first season had that huge tie-in with WS, but since then it's basically a "yeah this happened, now we are here in the aftermath... ok onward we go"
Even Ant-Man had a different version of Hydra than we are seeing in Shield, which wouldn't surprise me if the Hydra we saw in Ant-Man is the one that shows back up in the MCU, not the Shield one.
That being said, Shield is more connected to the movie world, but Joss was also the main guy behind some of the movies and the show, now he's not connected to anything but the show for the foreseeable future, so he's going to focus on the show, and I think we see more and more separation from SHIELD and the MCU, at least until the show is cancelled, or Inhumans is released.
and you responded with:
quote:
Except Season 3 has been obviously leading up to Civil War.
and I said that was incorrect and that S.H.I.E.L.D was only moving into the Secret Wars direction
Similar statements by everyone else as well... over and over and over again, about how it just wasn't true, and they were going to keep going about doing things as they always had...
--------
Just like normal... I was correct and you all put your chips in the wrong theory.

check out the thread I linked above... the movie and tv world are drifting apart faster than the international space station... if you want season 1 tie-ins... I just don't think it's happening again.

It wasn't a shot at that, but it was absolutely a reference/homage to them.

I grew up in a city run by NASA... there aren't many things that travel faster than 17,150 Miles Per Hour.. so I was going with the fastest thing I could think of at the time

Anyone waiting to watch tonight's episode until after they see Civil War?
Posted on 5/11/16 at 7:20 am to Tiger_n_Texas
I watch last night's episode. They do have a few CACW spoilers in the episode. But it is pretty cool that they reference the movie and The Sokovia Accords
