I’ve never seen it. Seriously.

I work with a guy that is about 35. He watched it last weekend for the first time. He said he thought it was a great movie but felt like creeped out after watching it.

I watched it for the first time this week. Seemed really odd that the party got extremely pissed at one another with no rationale at times. Burt was a catalyst for pissing everyone off to be sure, including Ned whom he had never met, but conversations just seemed to start with annoyance.

Saw it once, never had any desire to see it again.

The book is perhaps even better.
Great movie and a great book too. The only novel ever written by poet James Dickey.

ETA: I'm sure everyone knows by now that the sheriff in the movie is played by the novel's writer, James Dickey.

I guess it all comes down to: do you like to read about a dude getting arse raped, or do you prefer to watch?

That would be the normal, healthy reaction to this movie.

If you're not deeply disturbed by Deliverance when you first watch it, there's something very wrong with you.

47 years and Ned Beatty still "gots a purty mouth!"

Depends on your age. Seeing Deliverence and Clockwork Orange as a teen and as an adult are two different things.
