The book is perhaps even better.

(eta: did I really just get downvoted twice for expressing this opinion about a book? And this was in the OT when I replied. Oh yeah maybe that's why. I loved the movie and the book, and the "perhaps" meant it's a toss up. Sheesh.)

It's amazing the turn Burt's career took later on.

Was a very good actor and then ended up doing shite movies.

*Smokey and the Bandit is not a shite movie.

I guess it all comes down to: do you like to read about a dude getting arse raped, or do you prefer to watch?

This is where we differ.

Why can't we have both?

The squeal like a pig line was improvised in the film. It was not in the novel, although the sodomy incident was.

Dickey was a great writer and poet. He was from the Buckhead area, I believe.

I worked as a whitewater raft guide on the river it was filmed on for several years.

Chattooga River, part of the border between GA and SC. It’s beautiful.

One of the legit creepiest movies I've ever seen. Leaves me with an "icky" feeling - after I watch it I feel like I need a shower.
