Tom Cruise

Review his filmography on IMDB and tell me how many strikeouts he had vs singles, doubles, triples, homers and grand slams over 40 years? He might not be your cup of tea but his work speaks for itself.

He's amazing as a stunt actor in the MI movies as of late.

He got an expert training on helicopters so he could fly a helicopter solo on film in a valley and do stunts 2500 hour Pilots wouldn't do.

He's a short little feller, but he's as much of an action star as anybody in Hollywood.

Seth Rogen stands out. To me, a person's politics doesn't define their acting ability, but he made it clear that he doesn't want me viewing his work. Not a problem.

They keep telling me this guy is a movie star. He is a big big deal, but I don’t know a movie in my adult (2001+) life he has headlined that made me go...man this guy is amazing.

If you haven't already go watch The Last Samurai and Collateral. The dude lit the screen on fire and while there was some action in both there was also some fantastic acting from Cruise.
That's why it irritates the hell out of me that he refuses to do any real acting anymore and like you referenced just wants to spend the rest of his career being the world's most famous stuntman

Fast forward 15 years later and I rewatched "I am legend" last night. Dude is a terrible actor. Overacts way to much and was just bad. I couldn't enjoy the film due to his awful acting.

It's like we watched two different movies.

He's doing a bit more than trying...

He was good in Valkyrie as well...Damn fine film.

Cruise is a weird dude but his is a hard working SOB and puts everything he has into making a film.

Valkyrie is actually on my list of movies that I can't help but watch when it's on. It's the last thing he's done that's worth a damn in my own opinion

John Cusack was a favorite of mine, but his inability to STFU about his political leanings has ruined it.

Same for Deniro.

I'm in my early 30s and have never seen the big deal with Tom Cruise, always thought he was a shite actor in some good blockbusters and some terrible blockbusters.

Then, about a year ago, I watched Magnolia.

Dude acted his fricking arse off, the absolute performance of a lifetime.
