Don't miss anything because of politics. My stance on not liking some actor's work has changed over the years. At 61, I've learned to give second, and third chances. Some people that I never liked before, kind of found themselves in a role that won me over.

I must admit, I'm not a fan of a lot of current movies. Don't really get into a lot of today's action movies or comedy's, and am not a fan of superhero movies. More into straight up dramas.

Sean Penn
Leslie Jones
Rosie O’Donnell

Good list

frick those three
Nobody plays a despicable, slithering, or weak character as well as Penn.

Carlito's Way
The Falcon and the Snowman
Dead Man Walking

Nobody could have played those characters better than him.

I can’t stand Jason Bateman. He is the most boring unfunny person yet Hollywood keeps trying to force him down out throats every chance they get. Just the way he talks and acts annoys the piss out of me. He is the same character in every movie. I really want to see Ozark too but I’ve held off on watching it because I don’t want to watch Bateman.

They would really have to beat you over the head with it.

I could see someone not wanting to see a Bill Maher comedy concert. Because he is only political satire with a touch of general comedy.

Totally agree, he's a great actor. But he was the first name that popped in my head when I saw this thread. I won't outright refuse to watch his movies, but he does annoy the hell out of me.

Mayor Beetlejuice inexplicably invited him to Chicago a couple of weeks ago to speak to the press about reopening the city "cautiously". Like what the frick does Sean Penn's opinion matter?

I don’t particularly pay attention to their politics. It’s not being shoved down my throat.

Mark Ruffalo is my answer. His political stances have made me hate him.

I wouldn't say there is anyone who i refuse to watch because of politics,

But Ruffalo's characters always come off as douchy as he is. Its hard to separate his political stance and his characters since they seem to share very similar traits.

As a person i really dislike Spike Lee and find all of his work to be over rated and racist. His hatred of white people is evident in all of his work.

A few others i really dislike and won't watch their work, but its less about their politics and more about them being disgusting people and horrible actors. Amy Schumer, Rosie O'Donald, Cher, Adam Sandler is getting really hard to watch (hard to separate his few good films from all the trash).

This sounds like the take of someone (or many someones) who hasn't spent much time actually watching Spike Lee's movies. He's an annoying persona, though.

Or it's the take of someone who sees that Spike is a racist a-hole. The only Spike film worth watching is Inside Man.

Yeh 25th hour, malcom x, black klansman and do the right thing all suck ??

Spike is passionate about his work and his race ... sorry if you don’t like his message or how he delivers it . But working with him personally for months I never saw one instance of racism toward his primarily white crew and producers FWIW

Well, that's what happens when everyone else around you is either young or capable of reading a few articles that break down how stupid the whole Hanoi Jane thing is/was.

We were at war with North Vietnam and she went to Hanoi for a photo op. That'd be like Rita Hayworth traveling to Berlin in 1943 to pose for pictures with Josef Goebbels and an 88-milimeter gun crew. Completely indefensible.

I didn't say his films sucked, I said they weren't worth watching. See the difference?

The quote below is all I need to read from Spike to know he's a racist a-hole.

"I give interracial couples a look. Daggers. They get uncomfortable when they see me on the street. Hand in hand and arm in arm. I just hope they're not in it for the sex mythology."
